No Long Run, but the is at the moment another previous Gold Cup winner in the shape of Imperial Commander. If he's retained his abilities and his last run wasn't too bad then he must be considered. :hope:

However, the participation of 2010 Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander seems in doubt. A tweet from the horse's owners: "Imperial Commander Grand National - he is entered but his main and probably only target is the Gold Cup!".
He is a pretty fragile horse and it would seem unlikely he could run well in the GC and the GN plus I guess he'll be right up near the top of the weights when they are announced. If Tidal Bay stays in he'd be carrying about 11-2, if Tidal Bay out he'd have to carry 11-10. At 12 is he really up to carrying a weight over a distance and course he has no experience of (Grand National fences). Love him to win but sounds a stretch...Only 3 weeks between GC and GN this year. Minimal chance of turning up and turning up in good form not a good synopsis - if you like IC wait for the day or at least NRNB.

This is my long short-list from a very quick stats analysis of the weights announced:

Backstage - Not run since Feb last year in PTPs
Chicago Grey - Would like to see a good run soon but is very interesting, brought down last year
Forpadydeplasterer - Not convinced will stay the trip
Imperial Commander - Very interesting if running
Joncol - Been in poor form, needs to show something soon
Pandorama - Would like to see another run following long Lay off but interesting
Quito de la Roque - Back to winning form recently, jumping questionable
Rare Bob - Didnt seem to take to the fences on previous try
What A Friend - Not run since last April, could have been kept specifically for this race

Other possibles include:

Albertas Run - Doubt will run
Beshabar - Trained just for this race but long Lay off to overcome
Jessies Dream - Very well weighted on novice form but not run for 2 years
Quinz - Not run for over a year, pulled up in the race 2 years ago
Roberto Goldback - Possibly well weighted, jumping issues?
Tidal Bay - Too much weight?
Weird Al - Only slightly lower than last years official mark, not for me

I notice that a very popular tipster in a very popular paper has once again been reading these pages...

Quite fancy Cappa Bleu, only worry is the way he lost ground in the last 2-3 furlongs last year when they quicken up!!!....before staying on really well. So for me same could happen again, but think it should make the frame jumps and stays well, just may not have that extra gear that the modern grand national needs

Ha! Well the Tidal Bay furore didn't last long! :P

Seriously, I really hope its not serious and he goes on to win many more races. I would have thought that he would hit all the trouble in a National though due to his style of running.

Weights get a shake up then.

Begginning to like Colbert Station now still can get 25/1. :)
That has a nice ring to a National winner name??
Wow Seabass odds are shortening.
So think might go for SunnyBoy one instead, least we know
he stays the trip. :)

Stats: Horses come 2nd, and went on to win following year,
are there any done that achievement?

Tidal Bay had a feeling that horse would nt run, anyway dont
back horses in national not had a run, so thats another stat.
