Aintree Grand National 2013 Ante Post

Postby The Shark » Fri Dec 28, 2012 11:45 am

I couldnt find a thread so thought would be a good time to start one now.

Tidal Bay runs today in the Lexus for which I think he will run another good race. If so, the current 44s on Betfair for him for the Aintree Grand National would be a good ante post bet/trade.

Connections have already suggested that would be his target. He did unseat at the 10th in the 2011 National and if he does run well today in the Lexus he is bound to be close to top weight if not top weight in the National but feel the odds could tumble, especially if he becomes Nicholls/Walsh main hope for the race.

Anyone else got any early GN bets/trades?

Thanks Shark for the National one.

I fancy Long Run 33/1 for this National.
As think Long Run needs further now, and he will get the trip.
Anyway they plenty more to choose from, come National Day.
Probably end up backing 5 of them, on the big day it self.
Know sorting out for a new Grey one, nice to see the grey winning
the National last year, and put out the jinx of the grey horse, not winning
for a long time.
Would nt it be nice, another grey will win National again.

Love this time of year, counting weeks down to the National. :)

Happy New Year Everyone.

Happy New Year Underdogslover :)

I'm not sure they would risk running Long Run in the national for a couple more years yet. He should be able to have a good crack at two more King Georges and three more Gold Cups (including this next one) before maybe having a go at the National if thats what they want.

It appears they may try Tidal bay for the GC and the National this season, 22s for the GN now on Betfair, think I will Lay off.

Happy New Year The Shark :)

Long Run Yes still keeping eye on him for the National.
Who knows owners might go for it!!
Think Long Run needs longer trip now, when Captain Chris
got very close to him the King George.
Maybe Long Run might try the Irish National this year :? to
see if he stays, i think he will.

Tidal Bay yes will keep an eye on that one to.
As remember West Tip fell in the National, went on to win
it the following the year, so all is not lost, if a horse falls in the national,
they might like it 2nd time round.

So National weights not out yet? Is that about Early February :?
They come out, bet Long Run be top weight.
But that did nt stop Red Rum.. :)

Well spotted Shark, just what you need at this time of year, a free bet on the National.

Since going to the Nicholls yard, Tidal Bay has found a new lease of life and he going for the Gold Cup or the National i am sure he will do himself justice

Does anyone know when the declaration stages are for the National? As I remember it goes down to about 100, then about 80, before getting trimmed down to 40 and a bit closer to the time.

I believe entries close noon on 31st January and then weights are announced.

First Forfeit Stage 28th Feb

2nd Forfeit Stage 20th mar.

I normally like to wait until the wights are announced but it could be worthwhile looking for a horse that you think could slip under the radar and be weighted less than it should.

There are normally one or two each year that are well weighted

Whether connections will be tempted to go for the big one this season is still up for debate, but surely ALWAYS WAINING would have a big say if he goes for it. I've backed him for the last 2 seasons in the Topham and he makes the fences look easy around Aintree, and only ever seems to run his race there in the spring. I've taken 140.0 on Betfair, still around 100 available. Obvious risks are that he wont run in the race but if he does he certainly wont be that price, and seems to be hints he may take his chance this year......

Saw today on Sporting Life that Midnight Chase is being targeted at this race. Jumps and stays well so, depending on the weight, he could run well in this, as has that touch of class that I think is required to win the race these days.

Runs in the SkyBet Chase at the end of this month.
