Neptune Collognes wins off 11'6, Imperial Commander is off 11'10 now.

NC was 3rd in GC, IC won the GC.

To put it into a numbers game, IC is considered 4lbs better than Seabass...

Best horse I can recall being in The Grand National for a long time. A real, real threat in my view.

Any thoughts on IC not being steered by Paddy Brennan for the 1st time? A good thing or bad thing?? :?

Probably lessens his chance somewhat though STD rides the fences well.

This talk of IC being 3 stone well in by NTD is one inaccurate as it is actually less than 2 stone. When IC came second to Cape Trib in the Argento I thought he ran to about 154 and Cape Tribulation backed that up by his run in the Gold Cup which was probably about 159 so on the form we have seen for IC then he is perhaps 4lbs wrong in the weights albeit if he was truly back to his best then he would have a ton in hand I somewhat doubt that is the case and I'd be surprised at his age he could beat the 160 mark so I wouldn't thought there was much leeway for him.

Great if he could win as it would be his last hurrah - just hope he comes back safe.

1/2 a length in an absolute bog to Cape Tribulation was a decent showing after a long layoff even by his standards, I genuinely don't think he's declined 27lbs since his Gold Cup 3 years but only 5 races ago.

Any thoughts on Harry the Viking? Two lengths worse off to TeaforThree at the festival last season on level weights puts this one firmly in the frame? Is now the best part of a stone better off and it looks like his favoured good ground is likely to be under foot. If you look at the fact that TeaforThree is one of the favourites it makes the 33-1 odds look slightly big. I know that Harry the Viking hasn't exactly covered himself in glory this season but if you add the PN factor who now has a taste for winning the big one I think this could be a live outsider off a low weight. It wouldn't have surprised me if this one has been readied just for this.

One more thing to say on Imperial; I couldn't have any horse on my mind who hasn't been aimed at this race all season. I think I'm right in saying that Imperial Commander is likely to be the only one in the field that falls into this category.

I repeat, I honestly think he has no chance and I would quite happily do something embarrassing if I'm proved wrong. Any suggestions?

Dunno but I'll join you des - on the form we've seen this year he is probably 4lbs wrong, he is also a horse who has broken blood vessels and had very serious injuries, add in his age, lack of experience of the fences, ability to throw in a bad jump and a poor round he seems one of the unlikelier winners from the top 10 in the betting for me.

No streaking required - IC was going really well and just disappeared - not sure what happened there - not the weight just the race I think.
