Irish Grand National 9th April
What are your thoughts for the Irish Grand National? Dont see any topics about it in the forum...
Irish National Trends
The weights will rise so won't do a full trend, at the moment the top weight has 11-07 but i am not sure whether the weights rise to 11-10, 11-12 or 12-00
Horses aged 7, 8 or 9yo have won 8 of the last 10 runnings.
The last 8 winners have all carried 10-08 or less
9 of the last 10 winners were rated between 125 & 136
9 of last 10 winners had run in last 50 days
8 of last 10 winners were Irish Bred

Irish grand national
I fancy glam Gerry for the Irish national anyone agree[/b]
Ireland must be different from the UK
We would never have 11-07 as a top weight in a handicap
And yes Paddy Pub is the trend selections with 3 more trends added
Must have won over 3m or further
In the last 4 on their last chase start
At least 2 chase runs this season
Paddy Pub is the selection, backed it yesterday

Big shots not without a chance:
Shakervilz-very well handicapped. I like the claimer on board and came 7th last year. He looks to be inform and is a lot better at the weights now. 50/1 shot.
The Last Derby-will like the conditions and Liam Treadwell stormed a 33/1 surprise at Ascot in 2009 with this one. The horse was PU last time after a big break but if you look at the history of winnings he had won fresh many times before and is probably prepared if still capable at 66/1
From the market leaders I like Groody Hill but is a bit too short for a race of this type to get involved
If I have to select a horse based on jockey I would go for Ninetieth Minute and A. Lynch, not without a chance at all.
The class horse in the race is Catch Me and I can't resist a small bet at big odds.

Is it me or is this Irish National rather better quality than it usually is? Wouldn't be too surprised if the stats about weight were overturned this year.
