Horses for Soft/Heavy Ground

Postby Milly83 » Sun Mar 11, 2018 10:08 am

So the Festival is going to kick off on the softest ground for 20years

Taking that into consideration which horses do we think will relish these conditions??

Do we look for horses who have run on that going and maybe run further( stamina)

UDS and BVD seem to like it not sure about Might Bite Though

Bring on the roar!!!

Fred Winter Hcp

Mitchouka from Elliot was a horse I noted for the Irish scene but not for Cheltenham itself.

My notes: A type that shoul be versatile 2m-2m4f Softish and consistent. Should posses a bit of stamina aswell.

Given the soft Going and 16f stamina scenario now, i would suggest a bet.

13/1 available imo

Getabird might be a worthy favourite but what has this one beaten and showed heavy ground is not an issue but short odds for this one is not for me.
I like to take in the breeding and pondered through several of the field with the view of heavy ground material and one I have come across at massive odds is WESTERN RYDER with champion jockey on board Richard Johnson who rides this track well.
WESTERN RYDER is be Westerner and the dam is Seesea who is sired by Dr Massini plenty of stamina in the pedigree plus soft to heavy ground winners, genes in the youngster could be there to serve notice of a big run, already has proven course form on soft, Warren Greatrex would not be running this one in this race, if he thought the six year old was not good enough and surely Richard Johnson would not be riding for the sake of having a ride surely.
I have been dreading this venue appearing with the word "heavy" coming into the going.
