I agree with Danny and others in that the Place Pot is a good bet. I play it regularly when there are multiple horses I'm backing on the same card. It is better to cop a 28% commission on this bet than it is to pay the overround on the Place part of each leg in a 6 fold Each Way accumulator.
On quiet racing days there isn't as much "dead" money in the pool so guys that play it optimally have less of that dead money to share. On Festival days that dead money pours in though and a savvy bettor has a good edge.
I use a couple of strategies on quiet days that probably aren't as useful at the Festivals (taking the unnamed favourite in low quality AW Handicaps in the last couple of legs as insurance against an unexpected gamble for instance), but I think there are still some basic strategies that apply at meetings like this.

I'm taking two separate Placepots today.
For the first I'm just including all the trend horses that popped up on the database alerts today and I'm adding La Bague Au Roi and Buveur Dair in the two races that had no trends:

3- First Flow.
8- Mengli Khan
9- Paloma Blue (3)

2- Footpad
4- Robinshill (2)

15- Minella Daddy (1)

1- Buveur Dair (1)

6- La Bague Au Roi (1)

3- Duel At Dawn
4- Impulsive Star
5- Jury Duty
8- Mossback
10- Pylonthepressure
12- Reigning Supreme
15- Sizing Tennessee
16- Ms Parfois (8)

3 x 2 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 8 = 48 combos.

I put a bit more thought into the second one:

Leg 1:
8- Paloma Blue (1). I didn't have a strong fancy for the Supreme this year, but after watching a few replays for other horses yesterday I was drawn to Paloma Blue. I like that he ran in the Bumper at Punchestown last April.
If he doesn't finish in the frame I guess I can chase my losses on the Quad Pot 🙊

Leg 2:
Field (5).
Breaking my loose rule of not taking more selections in any race than there are places available. If Footpad plus either Petit Mouchoir or Saint Calvados fill the 1-2 then the chance of a bumper div pretty much goes out the window.

4- Shantou Flyer
9- Singlefarmpayment
11- Knight Of Noir
15- Minella Daddy (4)
Following my loose rule of not taking more selections than there are places available.

1- Buveur Dair (1). I think there are quite a few at longer odds that can make the frame here, but most have question marks and I don't want to "water down" the bet by including them. I don't really like the Champion Hurdle as a betting race this year, so having Buveur Dair one out will add some spice to the race for me.

6- La Bague Au Roi (1). I'm tempted to include Apples Jade as it's extremely hard to see her missing the frame but La Bague Au Roi (E/W and "Without The Favourite") is my main bet today besides the Place Pot.

Unnamed Favourite (1) I have a hard time doing the form for the 4 miler, so I'm letting the market do it for me. Also, by doing this I only have one horse to worry about if I want to lay off on the exchange.

1 x 5 x 4 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 20 combos

Back tomorrow :)

Two pots for me today, the first is a large staked small perm with short priced selections,

I googled placepots and had a long read but I'm still not exactly sure what these even are or how they're placed. Could someone explain them to a newbie?

Do all bookies do them? Must you go in and fill in their pre-printed coupon or write it down on a blank slip? Can you do them online?
