Fully agree and it's probably best to wait until the evening before or the day of the race to assess things. The winner of the Supreme tends to be 12/1 and under, Labaik being a notable buck to that trend but thankfully we don't have any unknown quantities like that this year.

Hypothetically speaking you could go;

£50 on Getabird with Ladbrokes 5/4
£25 on Kalashnikov with Coral 9/2
£20 on Summerville Boy 10/1 with Skybet
£10 on Paloma Blue 14/1 with Paddy Power

Now ofcourse the reason I'm suggesting leaving this to late is to make sure of the runners in the race. But the permutations at those current odds...

Getabird wins: +£7.50 cash, +£105 free bets
Kalashnikov wins: +£32.50 cash, +£20 free bets
Summerville Boy wins: +£140 cash, +£25 free bets
Paloma Blue wins: +£45 cash, +£45 free bets
Anything else wins: -£105 cash, +45 free bets

Great post

This is the way we should all be betting the first race of the cheltenham festival

I think everybody on here should take notice. seems like free money to me.

I wouldn't do it right now I'd wait till the field gets cut and pick 5 horses then but definitely include Getabird + Kalashnikov who are going to have a 50% chance or more of winning the race themselves.

What I would say though is there's probably an even better way we could spread the money out closer to the race

Because first of all Getabird is 5/4 at Ladbrokes but 3.25 on Betfair which is basically 9/4 or 2/1 if we include commission.
so don't go putting £50 at Ladbrokes on Getabird at 5/4 (not yet anyway)

Absolutely agree that there's probably a better way to spread the money. Not to mention from what I'm aware Betway will end up doing an offer similar to Skybet & Corals, then you've got the likes of bet365, Betfair & BetVictor that are going to want to keep up with their competitors so if people play it smart and use the offers there's definitely money to be made on the first race.

Or you could just matched bet the free bets and guarantee yourself a profit...

Sky bet for example, over the 4 days you could make £60-65 risk free profit from that offer, actual money and not free bets(where stake won't be returned).

If there’s one week of the year that I think I have a chance at beating the Bookies without resorting to matching free bets, it’s during Cheltenham. I’d like to think I’d turn a profit using the free bets greater than the amount you’d get if you went down the matching route...

It is also the best week of the year to matched bet and arb and is guaranteeing you a lot of money for absolutely no risk. Each to their own.

Betway offering money back as a free bet for the first and last race of each day, maximum £10.

There's another can be added to the Supreme Novices to kick off the festival.

Good stuff.

Be warned with the Betway offer, if you do the first and last race of a day and they both lose, they merge the bets as one big £20 free bet if you haven't used your first free bet by the time the last race finishes and you get your second free bet.

It happened to me last year, ended up having to stick it all on one horse when I had it planned to put it on two separately. Luckily that horse was Fayonagh (RIP) and went and won so ended up winning thanks to their strange t&cs

Thanks for the heads up danbradley, I just checked by Betway account today (not used it for a while) so will bear that in mind. As long as you intend to bet on most of the races then the free bet offers are worth doing but if you are being more picky then you do have to be careful you don't end up with free bets you either lose or bet with for the sake of using them up.

Found a couple more offers...

Genting Bet are offering £20 back as a free bet on your first losing bet of Day One (new and existing customer). So in theory you could simply bet on the favourite in each race and the first one you lose you'd get your money back as a free bet, if you are confident of the first day favourites of course... Could pick and choose as the day goes along so maybe go with Footpad, Buveir Dair, Apples Jade, and then if they all win you've got a risk free bet going into the last couple of handicaps.

Smarkets (not heard of them but through Oddschecker) are offering £10 risk free on each day's 15:30 race when you signup using code 'CHELTENHAM2018', so added to the SkyBet and Betway offers means we have a risk free bet for three of each day's races there. (new customers only)

William Hill going with a similar offer to Ladbrokes, with the bonuses of taking bets of up to £100 and the doubles winnings being paid in cash. That seems quite an incredible offer, can anyone spot any catches with it?

If it's as good as it sounds then the bookies offers on the Supreme Novices could set people up for Cheltenham.
