Rather Be - Close Brothers Novice Handicap Chase - Tuesday
Henderson won this in 2013 and had three 2nds since 2011 in a race not targeted by any specific trainer. This has been the horse's only Cheltenham entry for some time and his best hurdles form came at this distance. He's campaigned over shorter in his three chases so far but he should excel upped in trip.

There seems to be a battle between the bookies at the top of the market between De Plotting Shed and Movewiththetimes. It seems Paddy Power are really sweet on Movewiththetimes whereas the other bookies are a touch keener on De Plotting Shed. You can get 13/2 with PP on De Plotting Shed which is far and away the biggest price out there, but only 7/1 on Movewiththetimes which is more in line with others.

With no science or form study at all my dog is called Barney so Barney Dwan is backed at 10's. Fergal O'Brien has nominated him as his best chance of the festival but I'm not sure he'd want the ground too soft come the Tuesday.

The Skelton horse might outrun its odds. Nice win when fresh earlier in the season, two quick runs in the Haydock glue to get a mark and then rested. Decent run at the festival last season.

I like Barney Dawn, can’t have Movewiththetimes unless they put blinkers on him. Seems a little ungenuine, likes a lead horse. A few times now he’s appeared to refuse passing a rival when holding every chance in a finish. I had him in last years Betfair Hurdle and he just didn’t want to go past Ballyandy. I’ve noticed the same attitude during his races this season.

Could well be worth watching to see if they go that route, without double checking I'm pretty sure horses with first time headgear have a good record in this race.

Yes, Gman. Ive been expecting to hear something during the previews but not yet. We might have to wait until the final decs

Basically a three runner affair and he’s leading up the hill but cocks his head to one side (not for the first time )
That wasn’t a run for a handicap mark, that was a genuine attempt for a horse they thought might be Arkle or JLT standard.

Great example. What might also help is a bigger field and a truer run race but he'd have to be brought to bear at literally the last second. If the headgear goes on that would be a real indicator and Nicholls has never been shy with reaching for the headgear with other horses in the past.

I’ll be surprised if Born Survivor finished anywhere other than last.
