Your No 1 Cheltenham horse, now for the 2018 Festival

Postby Brownie3 » Wed Aug 16, 2017 9:38 am

Bit of fun, give your No 1 horse for Cheltenham, 2018.

Way to early I appreciate (Not for me)......but what are we expecting to win.

Thoughts....

As you've said it's very hard to forecast so far ahead.

As it stands, and even after his awful debut, i like Bacardys....not going to look into it enough to suggest race after his chase debut...wouldnt surprise me if he goes back over hurdles if he disappoints again...but had him on my mind for JLT or RSA.

Cracking Smart would be next on my list....he's a tool.

Samcro & Might Bite are the only 2 that I have had a real bet on so far.

Guitar Pete

Nice seven year old, as followed Dessie at that
age hope he Guitar Pete can follow
in his footsteps!!
One keeping eye on has been placed here.
Two and a half miles best trip so plenty races to go for.

Running at Cheltenham today, hope has a great run.
Is the Gold Cup too far :? in next 2 years.
That what we said about Dessie looked what he done.

Danny, at this stage, i agree might Bte is really interesting, im not to worried about his wondering; if they can correct that, nothing can get close to him. Remains a worry and will be interesting to see him first time out

I was at Sandown last weekend and thought Might Bite looked a real imposing sort in the parade ring and was a fantastic sight jumping those railway fences down the back taking them in his stride more or less and no sign of the wandering up that stiff hill after jumping the last. Lovely long stride on him and will take some stopping this season if he continues to progress. I think the festival wandering was more down to a bit of inexperience and he was out on his own with no company, obviously a lot of water to pass under the bridge but he must have more than a fair shout of making his presence felt in the top staying chases this season.

Faugheen, back with a brilliant display and 5/2 currently will look a great price on the day

Do you want to be backing an injury plagued horse this far out? It’s unlikely you’ll see BD compete against him between now and then, so I think the price will hold and you’ll get Evens, maybe fractionally bigger. If both make it and let’s say Faugheen is 4/7, BD will be 4s and you can just buy some money on the place market instead. I preferred your 50/1 MTOY antepost last year ;)
