Zipster, re Caid du Berlais I was listening to Sam Twiston Davis on some podcast over the last few days and he mentioned Caid du Berlais as one he was looking forward to. I can't remember if he mentioned a preference of target but it went in my notes as one to watch out for. Hope this helps.

Well Tom you gave over your blog but tells us nothing about this race, thought you wee going to hit us with some interesting points about the runners taking part.

Good write up Ex, will be giving this one a bigger look tomorrow and with closer to the time with others, since I have started delving into this race, may have the day off to enjoy.

pokerslut thanks for the info, starting to build a case for many of these runners.

Wotzizname has gone into 25/1, looks like you have drawn something into the equation and momentum of reading your view has possibly made the price come in.
The Executioner your points are very valid and I have not taken into account what the handicapper has done to Irish raider PRESENTING PERCY, who I have to agree with you in a big field like this his price is not that great, but punters always say "bigger the field, better the favourite".
With your selection running at Musselburgh, I feel this is used to build speed, which the track is ideal for the speedy type and I have seen many trainers sending a horse to a track of this nature and brings them on for the race they have in mind.

The fancied runners to appear here so far

PRESENTING PERCY 8/1

TOURARD MAN 40/1

MR MIX 20/1

BARNEY DAWN 25/1

CAD DU BERLAIS 25/1

WOTZIZNAME 25/1

Six out of the field with positive pointers, be good if they filed the frame, what a forecast/tricast punt this would pay :D

Nearer the time more members will be adding their interest with declarations being finalised.

I am getting a feel good factor with Cheltenham on the horizon and more than likely to have this day off, to part of the discussion and be able to watch this race live and not a recording.

RUACANA has held his entry at Doncaster 1.50 and he is the only horse in this race that holds a declaration for Cheltenham, with Tim Vaughan horses running well and Alan Johns seems to get the best out of the yards runners and 12/1 could be worth a dabble here at this venue.

I have presented another horse for the panel to figure with, if they want to that is and the horse in question is FINGAL BAY who won this race in 2014, he has not done much since then, with winning but he is down to a good mark of 140, eight pounds lower than winning this race, even at eleven he could have it in him to run a big race at very good odds of 40/1.
Matter of fact he is well enough weighted to hold a few, like Will O'The West and Rauling Maul, which could bring the likes of Gayebury into the equation and Jury Duty who are shorter priced.
It's been a long time since a eleven year has won and Willie Wumpkins went onto win this race at the age of twelve and thirteen, and a ten year old won this a number of years back called Buena Vista.

Along with the list below, I will add his name to the tally.

PRESENTING PERCY 8/1 1st 12/1

TOURARD MAN 40/1 4th 66/1

MR MIX 20/1

BARNEY DAWN 25/1 2nd 16/1

CAD DU BERLAIS 25/1

WOTZIZNAME 25/1 NONE RUNNER

FINGAL BAY 40/1

my blog looking at SP of winners of selection of Festival races including the Pertemps :-

https://www.olbg.com/blogs/post.php?id=412396

Going from 2004 to 2016, the SP of winners of the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle have been :- 10/1, 50/1, 14/1, 18/1, 16/1, 16/1, 20/1, 14/1, 25/1, 9/2f , 9/1 14/1 - 2014's heavily gambled 9/2f winner Fingal Bay stands out in this race as you can see the previous 9 years were not good for the favourites or general fancied horses, previous 9 all 10/1 or bigger, 8 of them 14/1 or bigger with a 50/1 winner thrown in for good measure, 10 of the last 12 winners have been 10/1 or bigger.

I hope that interests & helps people in some way :win:

My selection Wotzizname has been taken out of the race at the six day stage , was really looking forward to him - only saving grace is that I get my stake refunded.

How tight can the bookies get with PRESENTING PERCY 7/1 and 6/1 with Ladbrokes. Surely will be double figures on the day.
Hooray 12/1 that is a great price.

Well done shrews with 66/1 fourth
The Tourard Man is available at 50/1 and was 3rd in this in 2015. He is Alan King's only runner in the race and it's the horse's only entry at Cheltenham. Other than the 20/1 3rd with this horse in 2015, King also had a 3rd with Chamirey at 28/1 in 2010. The horse won over hurdles last season and is now just 1lb higher and then followed that up with a hat-trick over fences.
Zipster hit the second with a bigger price at anti-post
Barney Dawn (26/1)
This runner has a good 4 months between Nov 2015 and March 2016 when he went on to win 3 from 4 starts over hurdles but has since gone 5 without picking up a win, the run that caught the eye though was when unseating Brennan at the last the Warwick two starts ago when despiting second behind Tobefair, he needs a bit of cut in the ground, only concern is his increasing OR despite not winning.
For a big handicap I think we done well to take out the 1st, 2nd and fourth.

Thank you everyone for highlighting your views on this tough race.

:D you done me out of the forecast as I done the third in a reverse forecast and at one stage thought it was going to pay off, I have been suffering second places lately and this one has kept me solvent today so far.
