Colin Tizzard would be mad to even think about running Thistlecrack if he has had problems.

Yes, everybody wants to win the Gold Cup, but running him could end his career, there are plenty more top class chases to run in him.

After looking at only 2 of my trends, i have narrowed the field from 39 down to just 13, and it's likely that at least 3 or 4 of those won't even run.

Not long now guys

I think i need glasses SkyBet have Thistlecrack at 3/1 for gold cup but there are the only bookies who have a price for it but at least they are no runner no bet.

Seems Blacklion, who a few of us stated they liked at a big price, will bypass this to concentrate on a tilt at the Grand National. A shame but NRNB means no real loss.

A question that i am pondering.

Tea for two is said to need a right handed track and indeed his best races have been right handed. Kempton over hurdles, the Lanzarote and the grade one over fences. He was pulled up last year over hurdles at Cheltenham and i think I remember the jockey saying that he did not go left handed and would be campaigned around right handed tracks. Which they have done.

He has however run two decent races at Newbury , both in bumpers, and a relatively poor one over fences.

After running so well in the King George , he is being allowed to take his chance.

My question revolves around,

His poor runs on a left handed track were over obstacles and his decent ones were on the flat.

Is it the jumping when going left handed that is really affected or is it the galloping left handed.( which appears negated by the good flat runs.)

Because 66/1 seems very generous for horse that finished so close to Cue card in the King George and I am sure he will stay the extra as his dam was full of stamina and indeed guts.

I would be interested to hear any thoughts on this

I think it still comes down to one question. Even if going left-handed isn't a problem, then is his form good enough to beat the opposition?

His 3l behind Thistlecrack in the King George looks good, but that was on a flat track, with no uphill finish, and over two furlongs less. He has yet to race beyond 3m, but that's not necessarily a negative it's just that we 'don't know.'

Lizzie Kelly probably rides and whilst that might seem a negative at face value, the race isn't a strong one for any jockey bias with an example of that being the successes of amateur Sam Waley-Cohen. If she does indeed ride then she will know this horse backwards and will surely preserve any stamina limitations the horse might have.

I certainly wouldn't oppose anyone having an e/w on this one and think it's a good spot.

Cue Card seems to be 4/1 for gold cup with most bookies and is 3/1 with SkyBet did it drift then go back down or did it have shorter odds then 4/1 before the drift.
