Ibis du Rheu and On The Fringe won on the final day for Shrews stats. This thread has been really helpful and i hope we can have similar threads where members research stats that can help everyone.

I suspect from this list we are going to get more winners in the last weeks of the NH season as it would make sense that trainers who have a good record in races but didn't place or win at the Festival are out again looking for recompense.

I noted that Firth Of The Clyde whose trainer had a good place record at Cheltenham and was entered at the Festival but didn't get in won at Carlisle yesterday at 9/1.

The one thing I noticed by doing this was how well some trainers seemed to do in certain races and how this can go unnoticed. Another issue appears to be that because of the Mullins dominance on day 1 his horses perhaps get overbet on the last two days, when the stats show that in some races he just doesn't get a winner.

The scale I used is 10,7,6,2,1 but another scale might provide better results. Likewise, it's difficult to know where to stop in terms of 'years'. I used six years this time and next will of course have 7, but it maybe best to just use five.

After Christmas (and not to wish our lives away!) I will have a play and see what the results of comparing 5 or 6 years data.

Here to share for 2017. This has served me well for the last two years, so worth another go.

7 year stats using the scale below:

Win 10 pts
2nd 7 pts
3rd 6 pts
4th 2 pts
5th 1 pt

Tuesday

Supreme Novice Hurdle Trainers
Henderson 60
Mullins 47
Nicholls 11
Hobbs 10
McCain 10
JJ O'Neill 7

Supreme Novice Hurdle Jockeys
Walsh 48
McCoy 27
Geraghty 17
De Boinville 10
Maguire 10
R.Johnson 10
Russell 8
Townend 8

Complete Henderson and Mullins dominance. But if your backing the Mullins horse then you should only back the one Ruby is on. Altior (Henderson/De Boinville) won last year at 4/1

Arkle Trainers
Henderson 36
Mullins 28
De Bromhead 17
Pipe 16
Hobbs 16
Brennan 7
Tizzard 7
MFMorris 7
Knight 7
Nicholls 7

Arkle Jockeys
Geraghty 34
Walsh 29
R.Johnson 22
Scudamore 16
Lynch 10
R.Thornton 10
P.Carberry 8
Cooper 8

This one's a little more mixed, but the better jockeys stand out for me. Douvan was a class above for Mullins last year, but Henderson was dominant before that and won't be facing a Douvan type this time.

3m Chase Trainers
JJ O'Neill 27
Pipe 25
Mulholland 16
Henderson 14
McCain 13
King 10
Moffatt 10
Tizzard 10
Moore 8

3m Chase Jockeys
Mclernon 27
Geraghty 17
Scudamore 16
Maguire 13
Cooper 12
Aspell 10
Br Powell 3 10
R.Thornton 10
Moore 8

Again whoever Geraghty is riding plus JJ O'Neill looks like he targets this race with Mclernon (2nd last year at 8/1 with Holywell)

Champion Hurdle Trainers
Mullins 59
Henderson 40
Harrington 22
Twist-Davies 16
Nicholls 15
McCain 14

Champion Hurdle Jockeys
Walsh 50
Geraghty 23
McCoy 22
Fehily 17
Maguire 14
Townend 14
S.Twist-Davies 9

Mullins/Walsh dominant. Of course Walsh chose Annie over Nichols Canyon and Sempre Medici and won at 5/2f

OLBG Mares Trainers
Mullins 78
Henderson 14
Lavelle 8
King 8
Harrington 7
Rodford 7
Clayeaux 7

OLBG Mares Jockeys
Walsh 60
Townend 17
Fehily 13
Geraghty 13
Power 13
Jacob 8

Obviously we know that Mullins/Walsh dominant and would have been more so if Annie Power hadn't of fallen at the last in 2015.

4m NH Chase Trainers
Mullins 25
Elliott 20
King 16
F.Murphy 10
JJ O'Neill 10
Curtis 10
Pipe 9
Vaughan 8
Nicholls 8

4m NH Chase Jockeys
O'Connor 35
K.Walsh 23
N.Carberry 22
P.Mullins 19
Codd 13
McNamara 12
J.Newman 10
Waley-Cohen 8
Biddick 8

It just pays to be on the top amateur jockeys, with O'Connor winning last year at 8/1, which of course is a decent price given that he was number one rated last year.

2m 4f Novices Trainers
Henderson 23
Gifford 12
Burke 10
Curtis 10
F.Murphy 10
Snowden 10
I.Williams 10
Twist-Davies 8
Nicholls 8

2m 4f Novices Jockeys
B.Hughes 18
S.Twist-Davies 17
McCoy 14
B.Powell 10
Lee 10
Schofield 10
Townend 10
Waley-Cohen 5 10
Cooper 7
Poste 7

Nobody really dominating (targetting?) this. In fact it there might be value in avoiding the top stables (apart from Henderson). 12/1 Ballyalton won last year for Ian Williams but there was no Henderson runner. Top 5 places were filled by I.Williams, P.Nicholls, T.George, A.Fleming, K.Bailey. The Exacta paid £293 and the Tricast £1459.

Wednesday

Neptune Hurdle Trainers
Mullins 54
MF Morris 17
Weld 16
Henderson 15
McCain 10
Twist-Davies 10
N.Williams 7
King 7
Ferguson 7
Nicholls 7
Williams 7
Meade 7
Skelton 7

Neptune Hurdle Jockeys
Walsh 39
Russell 27
Jacob 14
Geraghty 22
Townend 13
S Twist-Davies 11
Maguire 10
McCoy 7
Kennedy 7
P.Carberry 7

Mullins/Walsh continue the dominance into day 2, but Davy Russell likes this race and just out of the points with a 16/1 6th last year.

RSA Chase Trainers
Henderson 31
Mullins 28
Harrington 10
Twiston-Davies 10
Curtis 10
Culloty 10
Byrnes 10
Nicholls 10
DT Hughes 9
Elliott 9
King 8

RSA Chase Jockeys
Russell 35
Geraghty 33
Cooper 19
McCoy 14
Townend 13
Power 10
Hatch 10
R.Thornton 8

More of a mixed bag especially if you consider Henderson scored 14 of those points in 2010 and there have been 7 different winning trainers in the last 7 years. However Davy Russell continues his day 2 liking for the jockeys with two wins, a 2nd, 3rd and a 4th over the last 7 years and didn't have a ride last year.

Coral Cup Trainers
Henderson 30
Elliott 28
King 17
JJ O'neill 14
Nicholls 11
McCain 10
Mullins 10
Lynch 7
Gifford 7
Ellison 7

Coral Cup Jockeys
Russell 20
McCoy 15
Geraghty 13
Condon 12
S Twist-Davies 12
De Boinville 10
Hutchinson 10
Maguire 10
Colgan 7
Coleman 7
Cook3 7
Skelton 7
Treadwell 7
Fehily 7

Henderson on top, but generally mixed with Elliott also doing well with a 1st, 4th, 3rd over the last 3 years and the winner in 2011. Again Davy Russell does well for the jockeys with wins in 2011 and of course last year on 12/1 Diamond King. Mullins has only saddled a 3rd, 4th and 4th over the last 7 years and a 4th, 9th, 10th and P/U last year. Even so that was better than Henderson who could only manage 14,15,16,17 and 23rd. Maybe, it's Elliott who will be out on top when these figures are posted 2018?

Champion Chase Trainers
De Bromhead 38
Henderson 30
Channon 14
Nicholls 14
Murphy 13
Moore 12
C.Murphy 10
Mullins 9
George 8

Champion Chase Jockeys
Geraghty 37
Lynch 26
Fehily 14
McCoy 13
J.Moore 12
Walsh 11
S.Twist-Davies 10
De Boinville 10
B.Hughes 8
Brennan 8

Henry De Bromhead has had a win, two 2nds and a 4th with Sizing Europe plus a 3rd last year and in 2015 with Special Tiara. Henderson's points solely down to one of the greatest Sprinter Sacre. This race perhaps shows that if you've got a really good horse then you need look no further. Which perhaps leads us to Douvan and although Mullins only has 9 points on the board he hasn't had a horse as good as this. Douvan to dominate for the next three years and Mullins to be top of the list in 2020?

Cross Country Trainers
Hobbs 28
Bolger 24
Keighley 24
Hourigan 23
Maher 16
Mullins 15
De Bromhead 14
Martin 10

Cross Country Jockeys
Heskin3 23
R.Johnson 20
N.Carberry 15
Lynch 14
Coleman 10
Russell 10
Cash 10
K Walsh 9
JT McNamara 7
Coleman 7

Mixed bag with trainers and jockeys. Enda Bolger has had three 2nds, a 4th and a 5th. Hobbs two winners a 3rd and 4th

Fred Winter Trainers
Nicholls 67
King 20
Elliott 14
A.Moore 10
Henderson 10
T.Easterby 10
Pipe 9
Martin 7

Fred Winter Jockeys
Schofield 21
Condon 16
Jacob 13
R.Thornton 12
S.Twist-Davies 11
B.Hughes 10
McGrath5 10
Townend 10
Walsh 10
P.Carberry 8
Derham5 7
Farrelly 7
Fehily 7
Huxley3 7
Russell 7

Basically if you concentrate on Paul Nicholls you're going to do quite well! However, there's no jockey that's really dominant. 13/2 winner last year with Sam Twiston-Davies riding and maybe the Nicholls/STD partnership may start to become dominant now that partnership is more established.

Bumper Trainers
Mullins 50
Hobbs 17
Weld 12
Pipe 12
Twist-Davies 12
Tizzard 10
Ferguson 8
Honeyball 7
Stephens 7
Nicholls 7
Vaughan 7

Bumper Jockeys
Walsh 36
Geraghty 21
R.Johnson 17
P.Mullins 12
Scudamore 12
McNamara 10
Tizzard 10
S.Twist-Davies 10
McCoy 9
Coleman 7
Fogarty 7
O'Brien 7

Mullins dominance, but perhaps the pack is catching up with no winner now since 2013. However a 2,3,4 last year and a 2,4 in 2014 shows that a trainer needs to have a decent one to finish ahead of him.

Thursday

JLT Novices Trainers
Mullins 45
Twist-Davies 19
Hobbs 18
JJ O'Neill 10
Martin 10
Nolan 10
George 9
Henderson 9
Pipe 8

JLT Novices Jockeys
Walsh 22
McCoy 20
R.Johnson 18
Cooper 16
S.Twist-Davies 14
Russell 10
Brennan 9
Fehily 8
Jacob 8

Mullins dominance and Ruby Walsh has won the last two which suggests that this may be a trend that continues.

Pertemps Trainers
Pipe 27
Hobbs 16
Nicholls 14
JJ O'Neill 12
King 12
Jefferson 10
Henderson 10
PG Kelly 10

Pertemps Jockeys
R.Johnson 16
Power 13
Hutchinson 12
Russell 10
Frost3 10
McLernon 10
O'Farrell5 10
A.Tinkler 10
O'Regan 10
McCoy 9
Brennan 8

Pipe really only top of the list because of the victories in 2010 and 2011 and just that 2nd place in 2015 since then. Nobody is really targeting the race although the top British stables do well.

Ryanair Trainers
JJ O'Neill 28
Henderson 28
Mullins 23
King 17
Tizzard 10
Pipe 10
Nicholls 10
MF Morris 7
Hennessey 7
Hanlon 7
F.Murphy 7

Ryanair Jockeys
McCoy 37
Geraghty 23
Walsh 19
Cooper 19
Scudamore 10
Tizzard 10
Lee 7
Lynch 7
McNamara 7
D.Walsh 7
R.Thornton 7

No real dominance with the trainers although Mullins was 1-2 last year and now Tony McCoy is out of the way it may be time for Ruby Walsh to show some dominance in this. Mullins, King, Pipe, Tizzard, Henderson and JJ O'Neill twice show this goes to one of the leading stables although Nicholls has only managed a 2nd, 5th and 4th

Stayers Hurdle Trainers
Nicholls 54
Mullins 15
King 14
Greatrex 12
JJ O'Neill 10
Tizzard 10
Byrnes 10
Curtis 8
Henderson 8
Webber 7
Morris 7
Pipe 7
Murphy 7

Stayers Hurdle Jockeys
Walsh 37
Scudamore 17
Geraghty 12
Sheehan 12
P.Carberry 10
McCoy 10
Townend 8
Fehily 8
Cooper 8
S.Twist-Davies 8
AJ McNamara 7
Jacob 7
Kennedy 7
Lynch 7

Nicholls/Walsh only really dominant in this because of the Big Bucks victories in 2010, 2011, 2012 but neither has won since. Nicholls has finished thereabouts with two 2nds, a 3rd, 4th and two 5ths in the last four years.

Festival Plate Trainers
Pipe 45
V.Williams 17
C.Murphy 16
Hobbs 13
Bailey 10
Rodford 10
Smith 9
JJ O'Neill 9
Vaughan 7
Twist-Davies 7
Moore 7

Festival Plate Jockeys
Scudamore 35
R.Johnson 12
Cooper 10
Burke3 10
Cook3 10
Treadwell 10
Bass 10
McCoy 9
McLernon 9
Maguire 8

A race clearly targeted by the Pipe/Scudamore partnership, so it should pay to side with them.

Mares Novice Trainers
Mullins 10
Henderson 8
King 7
Daly 1

Mares Novice Jockeys
Walsh 10
Hutchinson 7
Geraghty 6
A.Tinkler 2
Johnson 1

Too early to say, but likely there'll become a Mullins/Walsh dominance as there is for Tuesday's OLBG Mares race.

Fulke Walwyn/Kim Muir Trainers
Pipe 35
Elliott 30
McCain 18
JJ O'Neill 14
Twist-Davies 11
Culloty 10
Glynn 8
George 7

Fulke Walwyn/Kim Muir Jockeys
Codd 30
N.Carberry 29
Guerriero 13
R.McNamara 13
A.Berry 12
Hatch7 10
McNamara 10
R.Harding 10
M.Legg3 9
Mahon 7
O'Connor 7

JJ Codd has won the last two runnings and also in 2011, so I think siding with whoever he or Nina Carberry rides is likely to provide a decent result with Nina finishing 5,3,2,2,4 in the last 5 years.

Henderson and Nicholls have been dominant in this but neither had a horse in the top 5 last year which went to flat trainer Aiden O'Brien with Mullins finishing 2,3,4. Barry Geraghty has had three wins and a third showing a liking for the race. With Mullins so close last year it could be that he's putting more focus on this.

Bolger/Nina Carberry have won it the last twice and third in 2014 so it should pay to side with them.

M.Scudamore 12
Nicholls 10
Twist-Davies 10

Geraghty 7
Enright3 7

Nicky Henderson appears to be dominant but he's only had two 5ths in the last four years and 19 of his points came in the 2012 race, so this looks to be an open race although Henderson clearly targets the race.

Nigel Twiston Davies has only 4 winners from his last 75 runners, with several fairly short priced horses beaten out of sight. A little concerning for Ballyandy and Wholestone backers

ATR link to stable tours (if you're not aware of it). Some interesting comments on the well known horses and the not so well known.
