Great Field (one of the Mullins 9) won today at Leopardstown over 18f after a 500 day absence. He beat a 135 rated horse 'easily' by 4l and so a mark in the mid to high 140's looks probable.

As he looked to have plenty left, it looks likely to me that he will run in either the Coral Cup or Martin Pipe over 20f+ rather than the 17f of the County.

Thoughts?

Since 2008 this has been won by a Mullins (Thomas in 2012) and Paul Nicholls although i remember Ted Veale who was trained in Ireland by Tony Martin.

Arctic fire who shouldve won and last years WIcklow Brave who couldve went round again suggest to me this race is targeted by Willie Mullins.

Ive been looking at his entries and its hard to know which won to go on as suggested previously. Horses rated from say 135 - 143 probably end up being 150s.

Tricky to catch the winner at this stage but the stats point to it being irish, not that that makes it easier to find the winner lol :?

Paul Nicholls and Davy Russell both tipped All Yours as a charity bet last night.

Just had some more on Townshend. The more I look at him, the more I'm convinced that he's this years winner.

I'm really hoping that Great Field goes for the Coral Cup and doesn't oppose him which would pave the way for a nice double. If Great Field does go the Coral Cup route then I will also have a bit more on Townshend, if it's the County then I will have a little nibble at the forecast.

Yep, I am doubting that Townshend will get in the County now. Needs 38 still to come out, but Great Field should still be ok.

Micko: just a quick one. How comes Henry Higgins is discounted on your trends based on OR? Is he not rated between 131 and 139 - if he is, he seems to hit all of the other trends and with the Coral.ie hurdle a good trial for this race, then I\'d put him at 16s as a decent trend based selection for this race?

Nice little form frank for Betfair Hurdle there today from Flying Angel 3rd in that race put up 5lbs and won off it today. Starchitect having been bought to a grinding halt in the Betfair at the last up 6lbs hopefully keeps that going in this! Confirmed target now by Tom Scud in Coral blog hes one to keep an eye on
