Although its a good few years since an Irish winner of the Arkle, there cant really be a better time than now. UDS, Vautour (JLT more likely), Clarcam & Gilgamboa will all head with good chances.

For me, I cant see anything other than an Un De Sceaux win here. Expect him to bolt off early and I dont see anything being able to catch him. Price is short(5/2) but if he wins the Irish Arkle in Leopardstown at the end of January, it is bound to be cut again

I completely agree with UDS having the pure ability to take this race apart and hose up, my only question mark would be over how quickly he races his jumping will have to be up to scratch to clip around cheltenham's tough fences.

I was very encouraged by Three Kingdoms at kempton over christmas, think he could be a value EW bet at 25/1 and could see him running into a place if UDS has taken the running out of some of the other main contenders.

Shaping up to be a great race if all of the big entries stay in the race.

Might have a clearer picture of the pecking order after this Sunday, Irish Arkle, UDS takes on Gilgamboa and Clarcam, great race.

Is UDS the real deal? Great engine, has he jumping issues?

UN DE SCEAUX probably doesn't need form boosts but he got a pretty good one today with Potts family owned SMASHING winning by 33 lengths, UN DE SCEAUX easily beat SMASHING by 12 lengths when they met and SMASHING was 30+ lengths clear of the rest, in his previous run SMASHING had finished an excellent 3rd to the high class Gigginstown Stud pair of DON POLI and WOUNDED WARRIOR who have won top races this year.

2 very good horses in Gilgamboa and Clarcam made to look mediocre. However the cut to 4/5 seems drastic and wont be any worse on the day.

Agree re the price, but he may well scare many a horse off to the JLT.

Outstanding performance, I watched the race from behind the Sofa, he seems to travel so quick, and there is a fear he'll hit a fence or 2!

Probably makes Josses Hill's price too big.

Vautour - might go Arkle with Townend up but Ruby might think he could pinch the JLT from the front.
Clarcam - Arkle
Ptit Zig - JLT - can't see him in the Arkle unless its only a few runners and its very soft
Gilgamboa - JLT. Would be very surprised if he lined up in the Arkle anyway

After that it's much of a muchness.

Surely Vautour wouldnt go for the Arkle, they'll want the JLT.

So we get to March and UDS is odds on and Josses Hill is 4-1 - can't see the bookies wanting to pay much more on the front two. Both trainers have the favs for the first two races.

Super impressive from UDS, i would imagine he will be very hard to beat come march since most of his potential opponents will go JLT route.

id be interested in Vibrato Valtat for a place if contesting the arkle.
