<<< WEEK 24 SELECTION>>>

Spurs v Everton
Spurs -1 (AH) @ 3.1

I will probably regret backing my own team again bet but I think we can manage a result at the Lane. We have struggled against some teams who came and 'parked the bus' but I can't see that being the case with Everton and with a good cup win on Wednesday, confidence should be good with Pavlyuchenko finally being given a run in the team and I would not be surprised to see him score. Everton of course went out of the Europa League on Thursday night with a poor performance and it may well be a good time to play them after they have done so well in the league beforehand. I have opted for the AH as all but 1 of our last 14 wins have been by 2 goals or more, so worth a dabble I think.

I will try and catch up with Tipstonga who is on Week 28, so a selection for both Saturday and Sunday:

<<< WEEK 25 SELECTION>>>

Arsenal v Burnley
Arsenal-2 (Asian Handicap) @ 1.78

Things are not looking great for Burnley and home form is vital for clubs like them if they are to remain in the Premiership but even at Turf Moor they have now only managed 1 full win in their last 7 league fixtures, including a loss to Pompey at the weekend. They have 1 solitary point away from home and their defence just losses the plot on the road where they are currently conceding an average of 3 goals per game and they have only managed 2 goals themselves in their last 7 on the road, with both of these coming in the same game. Arsenal are well positioned to apply pressure at the top of the league and although they will probably slip up before long it should certainly not be in this fixture. They have lost just twice at the Emirates in the league but only to Chelsea and MU and in their 11 wins 6 have been by a 3+ goal margin, 4 by a 2 goal margin and just a single win by only a 1 goal margin. They have missed some firepower of late with a few injuries to the squad but the likes of Fabregas and Co. will still provide Burnley with a tough job therefore the Asian Handicap looks appealing as a 2 goal win probably the least we should expect.

Opening Balance : £2,872.88
Odds : 1.78
Bookie : Ladbrokes
Stake : £122.88
New Balance : £2,750

<<< WEEK 26 SELECTION>>>

Everton v Hull
Everton - Everton (Half Time/Full Time) @ 2

Everton will have been disappointed with the last week after going out of the Europa League following a poor performance in Portugal and then losing at WHL on Sunday where Donavon really should have converted a sitter for the equaliser and now their chances of a European spot for next season looks increasingly unlikely. Confidence however remains high at Goodison where they remain unbeaten in their last 7 league fixtures and they come into this game off of 5 straight home league wins with the 2 latest victims being table toppers Chelsea and MU! Teams like Hull can prove tricky opposition at this stage of the season when the relegation battle heats up but Everton still have a cause to fight for so I see no reason to expect an upset. Hull are battlers at home as demonstrated by their 2 most recent results of a draw with Chelsea and a win over Man City but they are not that clever on the road where they remain without a win all season after 10 losses from their 14 and in those 10 losses, they have trailed at half-time in 8 of them as well as losing 8 of them by a margin of 2 goals or greater.

I blogged a Brum/Everton draw but forgot to post it here. :(

Not a lot else takes my fancy this week but I will have a think about the remaining fixtures. Perhaps Rooney as first goal scorer against Fulham????

<<< WEEK 27 SELECTION>>>

MU v Fulham
Wayne Rooney FGS @ 3.75

I was very tempted by the City win at Sunderland but a lack of confidence leaves me with Rooney as first goal scorer. MU have kept a clean sheet at Old Trafford in their last 6 league fixtures which were all wins and a total of 23 goals were netted in which Rooney had 10. He is in the form of his life now the winker is not hogging the ball and if anyone is going to make the breakthrough for United it is likely to be Rooney who has already chalked up 30 goals this season.

<<< WEEK 28 SELECTION>>>

I am not quite so confident on my boys Spurs winning today as tipstonga is and although I fancy Wigan and Everton home wins it is the Sunderland game that offers the best value IMO and I am going nowhere near the MU game!

Sunderland v Birmingham
Sunderland @ 2.25

Sunderland have drawn too many of their home games but on a positive note, they have only lost 2 all season at the Stadium of Light. They have not exactly had much luck either and the last minute wonder goal from Johnson in their draw with Man City was a bit harsh and I am sure they will be looking to build on that. Birmingham are still keeping up their unbeaten home form and will be pretty pleased with their come back against Everton last week but there are signs that they are slipping especially on the road. They have lost half of their away league games this season and they have now lost 3 of their last 4 while picking up just a single win so I fancy Bent to get the goals who has been in decent shape all season.

We're going to Wembley!!!:win:

<<< WEEK 29 SELECTION>>>

Hull v Fulham
Hull @ 2.50

I am not quite sure why Hull dumped Brown or that I agree with it and although Dowie could not manage a win in his first game at Pompey, I still think they are worth backing here. They are fighting relegation which tends to give a team a little more energy and the main reason they are there is their dire away form where they have not won all season. At home they have lost just 4 games and have made it a tough place to go with their last 3 at the KC Stadium seeing a win over Man City, a draw with Chelsea and only a narrow 10 man defeat to Arsenal so they should be up for this in front of the home crowd. Fulham have seen their games mount up with the pressure of Europa and the domestic cup and although they have drawn a few on the road they have only managed 1 away win all season and conceded twice as many goals as they created.
