I have considered moving to North London this week as I believe all the fixtures this weekend are all tricky with the exception that Arsenal will beat Hull but obviously the odds reflect this.
So for value I have been tempted into the market off over 2.5 total goals - and for that it is Middlesbrough against WBA. All the recent meetings have produced at least three goals with the last two being 2-2 draws. There is goal potential in both teams as indicated by their games this season. 80% of the home team and 60% of the away team's games have gone the way of overs.
It is a cautious bet this week

Selection: Middlesbrough v. West Bromwich Albion

Stake 100.00
Over 2.5 total goals
Canbet 2.02

Closing balance 1,568.00

Result 0-1

Definately picked the wrong match for overs. I applied the formula discussed in last week's Saturday match forum ie overs for all games except those involving the big four and Bolton and with all other games hitting the mark I consider myself unlucky. However, in the real world a small profit was made.

There seems to be a few injured or banned strikers around the premiership for this weekend so with more difficult picks I am going for a form team against a team who haven't any points from their last three games.
Evn though there has not been many goals in previous meetings I am going for a win for West Ham. Averafing just over two goals per game I think that under the regime this will continue whilst Megson - who really should have a starring role on that programme Grumpy Old Men - to me really reflects an atitude in his eleven. They were up for their game last week but still lost out albeit a penalty decision which wasn't correct but I believe that they still would have lost. So I believe they will find it hard to recreate last week and providing West Ham can score at least 2 they will win as I believe Bolton will get at least one. Robert Green should wear the England shirt for the next couple of games as he has been in terrific form of late.

Many apologies for the late post on this - but I have been delaying to write as late as possible for my pick this week.

I have gone for Bulgaria on the Asian Handicap - with Italy having injuries galore - most notably Buffon I feel that the home team have a rare and brilliant opportunity to get something more than just a draw out of the tie.

Stake 250.00
Asian Handicap Bulgaria +0.25
Stan James at 1.89

I like International week - when is the next one? Bulgaria are a very difficult side to beat at home - in fact I was there, as they say, when they lost at home for the first time in a very long time when the mighty Wales won 0-1 back in the late summer last year. The funny thing was that the away support was mixed with England shirts who had been offered seats at their local hotel by their holiday reps. Very bizarre.

Anyway back to the norm next week.

Murt,

Your a bit out with your winning bet, +0.25 AH on a drawn game means half your stake on the 0 AH is returned and the other half wins on the +0.5 AH. Put simply your total profit is halved ie 111.25.

England shirts in the Welsh support  Must have been inspirational :P :P :P

Many thanks for pointing this out

Apologies for the mis-calculation.

I still like international week even if I can't get my sums right. This weekend sees another round of tricky games but have decided to stick my neck out, eat my words and all the other euphemisms that are about. I'm sticking with my new mate Gary Megson and believe he can pull off a victory against a hit and miss Blackburn. Bolton are now pretty much back up to full strength and on home territory should provide too much for a Blackburn side probable without Roque Santa Cruz.

Selection Bolton Wanderars v. Blackburn Rovers

I woke up this morning - sounds like a lyric from a blues song - with the full intention of placing this week's money on a Mancheter City home win. That was until I saw the demise of Ramos and the immediate replacement of Harry Redknapp. Amazing... three weeks ago this guy was berating the Spurs support for some not nice comments on his centre back and here he is being called for to become their new hero and saviour. What price Sol Campbell moving with him? It's a funny old game innit.
Anyways with one of Harry's pep talks and new manager syndrome this is now crying out for a home win - I know there are suspensions and injuries but an englishman in charge will fire up the brits in the squad.
Paul Megson had a game plan and now at the eleventh hour he is going to have to change it. I am not a lover of Tottenham but you just know that the revival starts today especially as there is a certain game in midweek at the Emirates which they are unlikely to gain any points from - new messiah or not. And what of Senor Ramos - he will return to Spain and end up a success with his new team whoever it is.
And for all those who put there money on Darren Bent being top goalscorer in the premiership this season - I am one of them - this also starts today - I believe he has given everyone a fair enough head start.

Selection Tottenham Hotspur v. Bolton Wanderers

A gratifying result - it really is amazing what reputations can do - you can't beat a British manager for putting inspiration and confidence into a squad that surely did not know when or where their next point was coming from.
