Free tickets for OLBG sponsored races

Postby TeddyT » Tue Oct 30, 2018 10:10 am

We are once again sponsoring the OLBG Mares Series for the 2018/19 season where there will be seven races that we will be supporting, culminating in the Mares Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

OLBG are proud to be sponsoring this brilliant series once again and we look forward to welcoming in more winners of the class of previous champions, Quevega, Vroum Vroum Mag and Apples Jade.

The OLBG Mares Series of races kicks off on Saturday 3rd November 2018 at Wetherby.

We are committed to supporting Mares in training and hope this season the OLBG Series will be as exciting as in previous years.

You may already have seen a previous announcement to give OLBG members the chance of a pair of tickets for Wetherby and there is still time (if you are quick!) to apply for our opening raceday which will be run on a brilliant day of racing at the West Yorkshire track. As well as the OLBG race, the Wetherby card includes the Charlie Hall Chase where the likes of Bristol De Mai, Thistlecrack and Don Poli could be running.

The OLBG race at Wetherby currently include entries such as last year’s Triumph Hurdle favourite Apples Shakira, the promising Cap Soleil from the Fergal O’Brien stable and Nicky Henderson's impressive recent Listed Hurdle winner, Verdana Blue.

In a change from previous years we have decided to open up all our pre-Festival sponsored racedays for applications for tickets straight away. So, if you would like a pair of tickets for any of the days listed below, please send your OLBG username/address and phone number to tickets@olbg.com, and please remember to add the racecourse and date of the raceday you want to attend in the subject line of your message.

Full list of OLBG sponsored racedays:
  • Wetherby Sat 3rd November
  • Kempton Mon 26th November
  • Cheltenham Sat 15th December
  • Ascot Sat 19th January
  • Doncaster Sat 26th January
  • Warwick Sat 9th February

Please note, tickets for the OLBG race at the Festival will NOT be available until much nearer the date of that race.

We look forward to seeing you at an OLBG raceday very soon.

The Warwick meeting does not appear to be the chosen rendezvous for many OLBG members despite its central location.

It epitomises what NH racing is about away from the main tracks. A warm welcome (not shirt sleeves and shorts warm at that time of year) is guaranteed in the most relaxed and friendly atmosphere on the OLBG circuit.

Racing is competitive and usually of more than a decent standard.

You would find it well worth the effort - especially if you can persuade Santa to bring you an extra pair of thermals just in case! :D

Yep would have to agree with David, there are few finer sights than the chasers jumping the five fences down the far side at Warwick and i have always enjoyed my time there(was a member in the dim and distant past).

Unfortunately as always, this meeting clashes with my local course Uttoxeter,so it will have to be a no show from me.
..because there is always another day...

A great day out at Wetherby again courtesy of OLBG despite the small fields. The dry ground had caused several late withdrawals.

4 winners out of 5 is good enough when the loser was in the same race as one of the winners. :D

On the way home I found 4 out of 5 football winners in my accas and an underdog winning again.

The icing on the cake was Sam saying there was no food but we could use the box. After he and some others left, a head popped through the door and asked if we had been given food and would we like some. It was just extra from their other bookings but those of us that remained were treated to this unexpected mini-feast.

Thanks go to the "Wetherby waiter" who pointed the food in our direction.
