This looks like a really tough week for underdogs. The bookmakers have been very tight and a lot of underdogs I see I really cannot see clear cut winners so good luck all this week!

I have chosen a game in the Premier League 2 U23 league which is played on Friday afternoon.

Brighton U23 vs Middlesbrough U23 (Premier League 2 20/10 1300)

Brighton have only won 2 of their 7 games and sit 8th in the 12 team league. They have not won any of their last 5 games ans suffered 3 losses in that time.Middlesbrough top the league with 6 wins from 7 matches.Their last game was a loss but they have won both of their away games.I am surprised to see them as underdogs for this match given the stats and I think they should be able to get another win to keep top of the league.

Middlesbrough U23 to win@3.60 (Paddy Power)

Always hard to pick an underdog but the value makes it worth it

Millwall v Birmingham- Championship 21/10/17 5:30 pm

pick- Birmingham odds 5/2 @williahill

Going on previous head to heads Birmingham have won 4 of the last 5 at the den and have beaten previous table toppers Cardiff 1-0 last time out, Millwall have lost their last two matches both against teams lower in the table ( Barnsley and Brentford) and seem to be lacking a goal scoring threat at the moment and so at a good price im tipping brum to upset the odds here.

Sunday
Premier League
Tottenham - Liverpool
16:00
Liverpool @3.50 in Unibet

Tottenham hosts Liverpool in the league on sunday. Both sides haven't lost a while as Tottenham have gone 10 games without a defeat in all competions(W7D3) and Liverpool is unbeaten in the last 4 matches.. Both teams played CL awaygames on tuesday as Spurs held Real to 1:1 draw and Liverpool scored 7 goals in a competive game(against Maribor) for the first time since 2007 when they destroyed Besiktas with a bigger score by winning 8:0 back then. So both teams should be well rested for sunday's clash... Spurs have lost just 1 of the 4 home- and Liverpool just 1 of the 4 away leaguegames so far this season so i'm expecting another tight match between these sides this time either. Spurs haven't won h2h game since november 2012 as they have drawn 3 and lost 7 of the 10 h2h games since that win. Also considering how well Spurs "have perfomed" at home so far this season then i expect them to struggle at Wembley once again.

Ligue 2
Friday 20th Oct @ 1900hrs
Nimes vs Brest

Nimes sit in 6th and have won 5 of their last 7 Lge games, but have lost 2 of their 6 home games and lost 2 of their last 3 Lge games. Brest, who sit third, lost their opening two Lge games, but have since gone 9 games unbeaten and have the best away record in the Lge. Nimes lost 5-1 at home to Niort, back in September, three days after Brest went to Niort and won 2-0 and Brest won here last season. Therefore the odds on the away win look great value.

SWANSEA V LEICESTER

Only 2 points separate these two teams sitting at the bottom half of the table.
After both having played 8 games, Swansea have 8pts W2 D2 L4 F5 A8, Leicester W1 D3 L4 F10 A13
Swansea won their first home game of the season last weekend when up against a team on the slide, Huddersfield, and they could take their second win this weekend as they face a Leicester side still looking for their first away win of the season. This looks a likely tight game, and a possible draw, but with the bookies making the away team marginal favourites this means that Swansea can be backed to win at the odds of 2.9 (William Hill) and at those odds I will chance that home advantage might just pay off against a team that could be unsettled having just sacked their manager
best current odds (H 2.90 D 3.10 A 2.75)

Swansea to win at 19/10 or 2.90 Saturday 3:00pm

League 2 21st October 2017 kick off 3pm

Coventry v Colchester:

Quite an interesting weekend for potential underdogs. In the Premier League, a case can be made for the two biggest priced outsiders with away day specialists Watford pitching up at an out of sorts Chelsea (though I don't expect a repeat of Troy Deeney's 'they don't like it up 'em, Captain Mainwaring' speech after the match), and Burnley a massive price against Man City. They've managed to successfully repel Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool, so won't roll over and die at the Etihad. 18 goals in 4 home games means even suggesting betting against City is bordering on lunacy but they won't score at least 5 every week and the one time they didn't this season, they dropped points against a fairly useless Everton outfit. Burton in the Championship are interesting at Forest. They've proven a stubborn opponent on the road just lately and might just nick something against a Forest side who can't keep clean sheets. Also in that division, Barnsley probably have a better chance of beating Hull than their price suggests.

There are also a couple of possibilities in League One. Oldham are in cracking form and visit an MK Dons side who are going nowhere. Only a dreadful record in this fixture put me off the Latics. The other outsider worth a second look are my home town club Walsall. The Saddlers are very much a bogey side for Doncaster but like MK Dons, their current form is distinctly uninspiring.

After considering all those (plus Port Vale - slightly too short), my pin finally landed on Colchester. The away side have only registered two wins on the road this season but significantly, those came in their last two away games against Yeovil and Newport, who are both decent on their home patch. Coventry have an impressive looking home record but have gone off the boil and are struggling to score goals. A 1-0 defeat at home to a usually leaky Forest Green summing up their current struggles. Confidence is increased with the knowledge that Colchester won this fixture the last time it was played, so should not have any fears for this one.

Colchester to win @ 4/1 (William Hill)

This looks like a really tough week for underdogs. The bookmakers have been very tight and a lot of underdogs I see I really cannot see clear cut winners so good luck all this week!
As someone who sticks to english football i'm struggling the same stretchpaul. I can identify many teams that look much too short, eg Southampton odds-on the home win, but i certainly have no confidence in a Pulis side (Baggies) winning an away match. Then there's 50mph winds across virtually the whole country to consider. Gut instinct says that might help all underdogs by nullifying the more skillful team, but I've not really found it makes much difference, although you think it would at the lower league grounds that are more open to the elements and modern footballs are so light.

So from my unconfident shortlist of 3 (of which i'm not sure even 2 will get my own money this weekend) I've selected the match furthest north that only has 20mph wind forecast:

Carlisle vs Notts County - Sat21st 3pm ko League Two

Notts County win @ 2.90

Even though its mid-October i'm still not entirely sure of Carslisle's ability. They had a cracking start to 1st half of last season accumulating enough points to still make the play-offs following their absolutely dire second half of last season where they managed 25 points from the 23 matches. Thus far this season they really do look midtable with a chance of playoffs at very best. Very polarised results this season depending on the quality of opponents, with a WDL of 0-2-6 (so no wins) against Top half opposition whilst winning 5 of their 6 games against lower league sides. At home its worse than that, a WDL of 1-3-3 so far with their only home win in August against the slow starting Cheltenham. So i really dont fancy them as favourites against 2nd in the league County.

From when Kevin Nolan took charge in Jan17, relegation threatened Notts County achieved 34 points from the last 21 games of last season. They've improved further this season, their 29 points from 14 matches is automatic promotion form. An away record of 4-0-3 is ok, especially as one defeat was opening day of the season and the other away at Mansfield. But last weeks loss at Crewe and a recent 1-1 draw home to Forest Green, where they didnt really show up in either match, is a bit niggling. But i do believe they're a better away side than Carlisle are a home one, especially with Notts County winning away at Wycombe (hard place to go) and very easily at Exeter (3-0). Think i've just talked myself into a small bet on County tomorrow!

Bristol City V Leeds
EFL championship
Saturday @ 3
Leeds to win @ 3.50 - bet365

Despite letting me down massively when backing them to beat sheff wed away 3 weeks ago (lost 3-0) i still believe there is some value on Leeds here. Their attacking midfield 3 of Saiz, Hernandez and Alioski can be electric on their day as they were when winning at Bolton, Sunderland and Forest earlier in the season. Yes, they have had a recent slump hence the price but are still for me a better side than Bristol City.

Saturday 21st October 14.30pm - Eintracht Frankfurt - Borussia Dortmund - Eintracht Frankfurt to win 4/1

Dortmund have been excellent this season in the league but a recent drop in form has seen them win 1 game of their last 4, including a disappointing home defeat to Leipzig and quite an embarrassing result against APOEL which can never be good for confidence. They are still top of the league and will be desperate to maintain that however their struggles could continue today as injuries to their defence seem to be mounting up, last season they didn't win one game in October as fatigue affected performances and this season is showing signs of being no different. Schmelzer returned against APOEL but will be short of match sharpness, and they will also be without Sokratis (suspended) and possibly Toprak (hamstring), whilst right-backs Pizczeck and Durm both have long-term injuries. Eintracht Frankfurt are a team that have found some form having won 3 of their last 4 games in the league and should have confidence against Dortmund having beaten them in each of their last 3 home league games.

Premier League @ 1500

Southampton v West Brom

Both sides in need of points. Both have identical scoring record of 7/9. Saints have won once in their last five matches whereas Baggies are without a win in their last five.
Southampton have won just once in their five matches at St Mary's. They had to come back twice to earn a 2-2 draw with Magpies. They are favourites against Baggies who are without an away win since their first trip at Burnley after which they have lost at Brighton and Arsenal. However they led at Leicester before a late equaliser earned a point for the former champs.
West Brom won here during their last visit and with the hosts also struggling, I find the Baggies bit overpriced.
