Chesterfield limped into the playoffs courtesy of a draw in their last game against Woking. Prior to that game they had lost the three previous matches and in two of them failed to score a goal. Fc Halifax lost to Stockport on the final day of the season having finished the season with ten more points than Chesterfield. When these two met just over a month ago FC Halifax won 2- 0 courtesy of two second half goals. In the three recent defeats suffered by Chesterfield they were behind in two of them by half-time.

So Grimsby should travel in a confident frame of mind however county ended the season in stronger form with six wins in their final seven games.
