OLBG WC - Day 8 Qs - Thurs 21st June - Micko vs Aberonn, Stamina vs Raffo & TipsTonga vsDelboy980

Postby danbradley » Sat Jun 16, 2018 10:31 pm

So we move on to Day 8 and a chance to see Groups C and D in action again. Micko and Raffo drew their opening match so both will feel they need to win the next game. For Stamina it is must win time, while Aberonn will be hoping for another positive result which would cement his place at the top of the group.

In Group D we have the two late stars from Saturday. Both TipsTonga and Delboy scored two late and decisive goals in their opener. How will they back that up with momentum on their side going into their second game?

First Half:

Q1 - Finders Keepers

Denmark got the win in their opener against Peru with Schmeichel the man of the match, making six saves. Australia may need Brighton’s Matt Ryan to be in form if they are to stay in the tournament with some kind of result.

For Q1, how many saves will Ryan and Schmeichel make in the game?

Correct answer gets a goal!

Q2 - Fallible Favourites?

In the other game in Group C we have France against Peru. The French were seriously disappointing against Australia, while Peru showed some quality against Denmark despite being beaten. Despite that, France will go in as big favourites considering their quality throughout the squad.

So for Q2, who wins on the Asian Handicap, France -1.5 or Peru +1.5?

Correct answer gets a goal!

Second Half:

Q3 - Barca’s Best

Two current Barcelona players in Messi and Rakitic, and a former Barca star in Mascherano will feature in the late game on Thursday in what looks an excellent game between two teams full of star names and creative talents.

For Q3, add up the passing percentages of Mascherano, Messi and Rakitic.

Closest player gets the goal. Must be within 100% of the answer to score a goal.

Q4 - Starman

Denmark, France and Argentina all have a star player that is expected to lead their team. Eriksen is Denmark’s creator and primary threat, France have plenty of talent, but Griezmann stands out as the true world class talent, while Messi needs no introduction.

For Q4, for Eriksen, Griezmann and Messi only, add up:

Goals/Assists (50 points for each)
+
Completed passes
+
Total shots (10 points for each)

Closest player gets the goal. Must be within 100% of the answer to score the goal.

Bend it Like... Ronaldo

We all saw what top players can do when they presented with an opportunity to change the game in the last minutes when Ronaldo scored his incredible free kick against Spain in the first round of fixtures.

To get your dramatic late goal:

Put the players from the previous question in order of their player rating on whoscored.com (e.g. 1st Messi, 2nd Eriksen, 3rd Griezmann)

Get it right to get the goal!

Q1 = 7 saves
Q2 = Peru +1.5

Close at half time. Group C as it stands could be very interesting going into the final sets of fixtures, while Delboy is looking good at the moment for qualification from Group D.

Q4 so far looking pretty low!:

Eriksen's goals/assists = 1 (x50) = 50
Eriksen's passes = 45
Eriksen's shots = 2 (x10) = 20

Griezmann goals/assists = 0
Griezmann passes = 37
Griezmann shots = 2 (x10) = 20

Total = 172

Late goal:

Eriksen - 7.6
Griezmann - 6.9

Stamina, Micko70 and Aberonn still in contention for the late goal, depending on Messi's performance, which is going to have a massive impact on how these results turn out.

Q3 -

Mascherano's passing - 92%
Rakitic passing - 74%
Messi passing - 75%

Total = 241

Q4 -

Eriksen's goals/assists = 1 (x50) = 50
Eriksen's passes = 45
Eriksen's shots = 2 (x10) = 20

Griezmann goals/assists = 0
Griezmann passes = 37
Griezmann shots = 2 (x10) = 20

Messi's goals/assists = 0
Messi passes = 33
Messi's shots = 4 (x10) = 40

Total = 245

Late goal:

Eriksen - 7.6
Messi - 7.1
Griezmann - 6.9

Some eye catching second half performances here... :shock:

Stamina and Micko both score three unanswered goals in the second half! Top predictions there, while TipsTonga completely turns his game around with two second half goals himself! Not such a good day for his Argentinian side, but maybe this will (slightly) soften the blow?

Let's see what that does to the group tables.

Group C is absolutely wide open after the results today. Micko70 needs a draw from his final match, but may even get through with a defeat. Raffo94 needs a win and a good day with regards to goal difference. Stamina and Aberonn's positions are finely balanced and both know that a win is the only way to guarantee progression.

TipsTonga moves to the top of the group, but progression is far from assured. Delboy will be disappointed to lose from a winning position, but still has it all in his own hands going into the final game.
