Ivor Novello Awards

Postby LustForLeith » Mon May 07, 2018 1:09 pm

Whilst bored I stumbled upon a special market on Betway I’ve not seen before. The Ivor Novello awards.

I’ve been burned with this before so I’m treading carefully. There was one category that caught my eye and it’s the Most Performed section.

Each category is limited to three nominees and Ed Sheeran is in it twice (Castle On The Hill And Shape Of You) and Rag N Bone Man makes up the field (Human.)

Current odds are

Shape of You 6/4
Castle On The Hill 15/8
Human 7/4

I’ve been looking into those to see if we can get an edge. The award is sponsored by PRS who monitor the most performed song taking into account performance, online and broadcast.

Interestingly enough there’s a link on the PRS website with the most popular song based on sales and streams here

http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-new ... rt__21327/

And number one is Ed Sheeran and Shape Of You.

So does that mean he’s a cert to win it? Maybe not but it gives him an edge!

Ed Sheeran Shape Of You to win Most Performed song at the Ivor Novello awards 6/4

Completely forgot about this as I've been busy doing other things but "Shape of You" just won this in the past half-hour. Very annoyed I didn't lump on.

Much like the Billboard Music Awards, this category was easy enough to work out but every other category is difficult as the nominees are so eclectic and are completely subjective as opposed to based on statistics.

Quite low key, I thought there was going to be more of an announcement.

Well done if you get the 6/4!

Stormzy won 'Album of the Year'.

Elbow wins 'Best Song Musically and Lyrically'.

Dave & Fraser T Smith wins 'Best Contemporary Song'.

I think they were all betting favourites but still not that easy. Will ignore try predicting the Mercury Music Prize...it's broken my heart too many times & I feel they're pulling the winners out of thin air recently.

The Ivor Novello awards are always low key with the famous proviso that if you don't turn up, you don't usually win. All about the prestige so they can be held at somewhere swanky like the Grosvenor Hotel but strangely, never ever televised.

I agree with the Mercury, unless you’re one of the people who knows at about 2.36 that day when it’s announced it’s nt worth a bet!

Always thought of the Ivor Novello being a boozy afternoon in a swanky hotel!
