Strictly Come Dancing 2017

Postby garlicsauce » Sun Aug 06, 2017 3:05 pm

The first contestant will be announced on Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw showtomorrow (7th August).

Plenty of rumours flying around about Tim Peake, half the Eastenders cast, Les Dennis and Paula Radcliffe being in the line up.

Just some new Head Judge Shirley Ballas prices up at the moment -

to award a 10 in her first show - 10/1
to award a zero at any time in her first series - 16/1
to resign before the end of the first series - 25/1

In sunny Spain having a San Miguel so out of the loop on this. But I saw both Lea dennis and Samantha Janus in the Addams Family show recently and both had a bit of stage presence. Janus in particular looked decent when t came to the dancing.

Not sure if they'll make eh line up. I'm away back to my pint!

Odds from William Hill...

OUTRIGHT WINNER ~

Aston Merrygold 11/4
Mollie King 9/2
Alexandra Burke 5/1
Gemma Atkinson 13/2
Jonnie Peacock 8/1
Davood Ghadami 10/1
Charlotte Hawkins 12/1
Joe McFadden 16/1
Debbie McGee 25/1
Brian Conley 33/1
Richard Coles 40/1
Ruth Langsford 40/1
Chizzy Akudolu 50/1
Susan Calman 50/1
Simon Rimmer 50/1

Seems about right. How strong is that JLS fanbase though compared to say The Saturdays? I think Jonnie Peacock is a lively 'outsider' if he can demonstrate any dancing ability. Various 'first evers' to be had...can Joe McFadden get the Scottish vote? Still no Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish celebrity have ever won "SCD".

Feel Charlotte Hawkins, Ruth Langsford and Simon Rimmer will be 'extra nobbled' by the fact they don't work for the BBC.* Feel Hawkins may get the surprise early exit treatment dished out to the likes of Rachel Riley.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strictly_ ... es_results

* Caroline Flack bucked that trend but so what?

Gemma Atkinson will likely finish around fifth but unlikely to get to the final three. She will likely get the Pixie Lott treatment rather than the Abbey Clancy treatment. I get the odd feeling Debbie McGee is a good enough dancer but wont progress to the final six.

Susan Calman because of her height is probably going to be getting the 'keep her in' vote but I wouldn't discount Richard Coles getting the 'laugh at him' vote either.

TOP FEMALE ~

Mollie King 7/4
Alexandra Burke 5/2
Gemma Atkinson 3/1
Charlotte Hawkins 8/1
Debbie McGee 12/1
Chizzy Akudolu 25/1
Ruth Langsford 25/1
Susan Calman 33/1

I've generally not bet on this market. Have no idea if dead heat rules applied in the past when there were two runner-ups of the same gender such as Kellie Bright/Georgia May Foote and Denise van Outen/Kimberley Walsh.

I don't think the market is wrong but whether Mollie King or Alexandra Burke is the better dancer, I don't know.

TOP MALE ~

Aston Merrygold 'evens'
Davood Ghadami 9/2
Jonnie Peacock 9/2
Joe McFadden 7/1
Brian Conley 14/1
Richard Coles 16/1
Simon Rimmer 25/1

Aston Merrygold is either a steal or just incredibly bad value as he gets nobbled somehow.

GENDER OF WINNER ~

Female 8/11
Male 'evens'

It likely depends what you feel about Aston, Davood & Jonnie vs. Mollie, Alexandra & Gemma. I feel Aston barring injury or being unceremoniously nobbled should cakewalk this like Harry Judd or Jay McGuinness did but the same scenario kind of exists for Mollie and Alexandra as well if they show any dancing superiority.

The first elimination market should be kind of interesting. Judging by the odds, most oddsmakers don't like Simon Rimmer's chances. Possibly him and Chizzy Akudolu are the likely favourites for that honour.

Brian Conley has been in many musicals, hairspray, chitty chitty bang bang, barnum, Oliver, me & my girl, he was choreographed by Craig revel horwood in one musical. Good outside chance.
