Elise Christie wins it. Will be moderately surprised if she makes the SPotY shortlist though.

Andy Murray tweeted the BBC have just rang him to say he had probably won but he had to guarantee a interview if he wanted it, he said no thanks.
Seems strange, if the public voted for him then he won whether he turns up or not.

It was a swipe at Donald Trump's ego much like a lot of people did on Twitter as the Diet Tango Mussolini declared that he was 'turning down' TIME magazine's 'Person of the Year' award.

I'm thinking with recent events most particularly the #MeToo revelations that the BBC may finally want to pick a women's team for 'Team of the Year' most probably the England women's cricket team or the England women's rugby union team.

The 12 Nominees were announced yesterday and Anthony Joshua is odds on. Here's the betting without him -

Lewis Hamilton 1.72
Chris Froome 5
Harry Kane 9
Mo Farah 9
Jonathan Rea 10
Adam Peaty 34
Jonnie Peacock 34
Anya Shrubsole 41
Elise Christie 67
Bianca Walkden 81
Johanna Konta 101
With bet365

The best bets look to be for the top 3, which bet365 also have prices for.
Blog here https://www.olbg.com/blogs/post.php?id=413268 with profiles, betting and tips for the top 3.

I was a little bemused to see Harry Kane's name in the shortlist. :?

Very little movement in the odds if anything although I'm sure there'll still be a late gamble of some sort so someone gatecrashes ether Lewis Hamilton (being a 'tax dodger' may hurt him but it didn't when he beat Rory Mcilroy) or Chris Froome in the 'Betting without Anthony Joshua' market.

I'd be stunned if Anthony Joshua loses now unless the petrolheads or cycling fans gang up en masse and try to make a contest of it,

A slightly more interesting race would be RTE's Sports Person of the Year award. Odds from Betfair/Paddy Power:

Katie Taylor 10/11
Joe Canning 2/1
Paul O'Donovan 10/1
Ryan Burnett 10/1
Andy Moran 12/1
Conor Murray 20/1
James McClean 20/1
Joe Ward 25/1
Robbie Power 25/1
Michael McKillop 40/1
Jason Smyth 40/1
Rena Buckley 50/1
K G Dunlevy/E McCrystal 66/1
Noelle Healy 66/1

Joe Canning is leading the Irish Independent vote ahead of Katie Taylor (25% to 21%) right now with Conor Murray third with 15%.

Hurler of the Year vs. a women's boxing champion? Hurling hasn't had a winner since 2006 so maybe they're 'due' one. I would be more inclined to say Katie Taylor had an edge if she actually beat someone of note to win her world titles but female boxing generally isn't littered with superstars.

So anyway...anyone thinking Chris Froome might finally have some sort of chance must have second thoughts.

Not sure who will finish a shock third now though...Jonathan Rea!?

Yes Chris Froome has gone right out in the betting after his 'adverse' drugs test. Can the bet for Harry Kane in the blog come in? Or will it be Gabby Logan's tip of Jonnie Rae? The programme is on BB1 on Sunday at 18.45.
