The Great British Bake Off

I wrote a blog about the show moving to Channel 4 and as I was writing it not only were the makes looking for new hosts but judge Mary Berry announced she’d be staying at the BBC. So now they’re also looking for a new judge!

Any ideas on who could replace her? I could see previous winner Nadiya Hussain taking over. She comes across really well and has experience presenting other shows. Might not have the experience of Paul Hollywood but defiantly has the likable factor. She’s said that she’s not heard from the new channel about any involvement in the programme.

What about Jamie Oliver? He mentioned he’d rather be a judge than a host in a recent interview but would the show, with Oliver and Hollywood, be too male orientated?

What about the hosts of the show? Clare Balding has recently ruled herself out but Chris Evans distanced himself from reports linking him with the re-launched Top Gear and we all know what happened there. Jo Brand has refused to be drawn into speculation saying she’d be hosting the show.

Jennifer Saunders with either one of her comedy partners in Dawn French or Joanna Lumley could be a great shout.

Any rumours will be posted here!

In regards as to who will actually win the show then William Hill are foolhardy enough to have odds up even though the final was filmed well in advance and the winner is very likely known. The final's tonight:

Candice 1/4, Andrew 4/1 and Jane 6/1

Oddschecker are tipping Andrew...good luck with that. I think they're throwing their money down the drain. ... o-will-win

Richard Ayoade is William Hill's favourite for some reason but he's now the new host of the revamped 'The Crystal Maze'. ... rd-ayoade/

Channel 4 will be showing a new series this year!

The odds may tell us what's happening.

EDIT: Anna 'Naked Attraction' Richardson has turned it down. ... r-pal-sue/

I doubt she was seriously in the running.

Apparently they screen-tested Michel Roux Jr, Rachel Allen and Frances Atkins as to who will replace Mary Berry. I'd say of those three, it'll probably be Rachel Allen but there are plenty more potential judges (and hosts) to be screen-tested.

Never paid any attention to the odds about who would replace Mary Berry but it's apparently down to two possibilities between someone called Prue Leith and some unnamed other. ... -bake-off/

Am surprised that auditions are going on and NOBODY seems to know who are replacing Mel and Sue though. 6/1 the field and ugh, Miranda Hart (who'd host it alongside her mother) is favourite with some bookies.

Still no idea who Channel 4 have got as the new hosts but it won't be Nadiya Hussain or Zoe Ball as they along with Rosemary Shrager and Giorgio Locatelli will be on "The Big Family Cooking Showdown" for the BBC directly opposite it though.

Prue Leith is replacing Mary Berry but that's about all the information that's out there right now. ... ival-show/

No odds on Michel Roux Jr surprisingly. He's either a third judge or the main/co-presenter.

The final is tonight but Prue tweeted out that Sophie won it. ... 17-winner/

This is why you don't offer odds on pre-recorded gubbins even if the live stuff is even stodgier and arguably prone to rigging.

Betway still haven't paid out that Channel 4 would be putting the show out this year and not next year...must contact them soon.

EDIT: Think their system forgot as it was well past six months so they've had to manually do it...can't think they'd have problems with say, ante-post football bets but hey, whatever.
