Melvin Odoom is the fifth person announced as he makes an odd piece of history as more than one black man is on a series of 'SCD' for once.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... e-dancing/

I get a DJ Spoony type vibe about him.

Digital Spy rank the announced five's chances of most likely to win as...

1. Laura Whitmore
2. Will Young
3. Ore Oduba
4. Melvin Odoom
5. Ed Balls

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... d-bbc-one/

William Hill go...

Will Young 5/1
Laura Whitmore 6/1
Ore Oduba 14/1
Melvin Odoom 2/1
Ed Balls 33/1

Louise Redknapp is the sixth announced...there'll probably be a seventh on Tuesday so I'll use this this as a placeholder and edit accordingly.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... ontestant/

Danny Mac from um, 'Hollyoaks' is the seventh person confirmed. He's been to theatre school.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... confirmed/

Daisy Lowe is the eight person announced. Well...that's somebody I can get behind. No idea if she can dance though.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... confirmed/

Naga Munchetty, from BBC Breakfast, is the ninth person announced.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... confirmed/

The nine so far lack a lot of pizazz when Will Young is arguably the 'biggest' name announced so far...and his best years are behind him as the record industry collectively nobbled his career when the likes of 'heterosexual Will Young' Olly Murs arrived on the scene.

Long been rumoured but it's official as Anastacia, she of 'I'm Outta Love' and 'Left Outside Alone' fame (pick the bones out of this) and not much else, is the tenth person announced.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... me-dancin/

Out of the ten so far, it'll likely be Danny Mac, Laura Whitmore Nand oooh, Will Young at a push as your final three barring someone demonstrating ability and/or a fanbase.

There's probably two more persons to be announced and that's your lot.

The show starts on Saturday 3rd September.

Claudia Fragapane was the eleventh announced.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... e-dancing/

(Judge) Robert Rinder was the twelfth...then a late flurry of names (Greg Rutherford, Tameka Empson and Lesley Joseph) were given out on Monday night.

The full list of fifteen (FIFTEEN!?) plus a load of absolute nonsense rumours that is now the standard for Digital Spy articles...do not read if you're not on wi-fi as it's huge and loaded with photos:

The Sun are outing Anastacia, Daisy Lowe and Melvin Odoom for having prior dancing experience.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/uncategorized/ ... ckgrounds/

Will Young has had ballet lessons and Danny Mac has been to theatre school. Meh. So many barriers to break to become 'the first...' though...

* No 40+ years old woman has won 'SCD'.
* No openly gay person has won 'SCD'.
* No um, dark skinned man has won 'SCD' (unless we're counting Mark Ramprakash and Louis Smith and I'm not).
* Nobody from 'Hollyoaks' has ever won 'SCD'.

Sun Bets gearing up by proclaiming Ed Balls as most likely to be the first one eliminated.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1 ... uick-step/

I wouldn't disagree but they might keep him on for a few weeks purely to embarrass the hell out of him and Labour.

I'm not that convinced Claudia Fragapane is 'nailed on' to win this...she's absolutely diddy at 1.37m (that's 4'4 in old money!). If they inexplicably pair with anyone 6' tall then she's almost doomed to fail.

A comparison in short people doing well would be Shawn Johnson over on 'Dancing with the Stars' who was only 1.50m (4'9!) but this is going to test her dancing and gymnastic ability...I feel she's going to have to 'sweetheart' her to a win.

Boringly, I can't see anybody outside of her, Will Young, Danny Mac, Daisy Lowe, Laura Whitmore or even Louise Redknapp as the likely winner at this ante-post stage though.

Some are taking a firm position on um, Will Young as he becomes joint favourite to win the whole thing...we shall have to see.

I\'ve had a cheeky nibble on Lesley Joseph, a small go on Anastacia and dropped a load on Naga.

LG has enthusiasm and humour which the audience love, think she could go far and a definite trading option.

Anastacia has donated her fee to a breast cancer charity, she had a double mastectomy in 2013, she will have plenty of audience support and has plenty of dancing experience.

Naga is my main bet, something about her, she\'s a keen golfer which most women aren\'t and has a confidence that makes me think she wouldn\'t enter if she didn\'t know she could handle it.

15 celebrities, 17 dancers...Neil Jones and Chloe Hewitt are the 'reserve pros' just in case there are injuries.

Will Young becomes the early outright favourite with Ore Oduba, Robert Rinder and Naga Munchetty going blue on Oddschecker.

BBC accused of not bigging up the fact that Melvin Odoom used to teach streetdance...not sure if that's really much help. You need votes to win, no matter what the ability and we've seen some shocks over the years.

Not sure what\'s going on with the first elimination...am assuming the women will go in the first week then the men in the second week as there eight women and seven men amongst the celebrities.

I think they will all dance Friday or Saturday starting 23rd September. There isn't normally a male and female night, it's mixed. Previous years there's no elimination first week, but the judges will score, but not sure this time as it hasn't been confirmed yet.
