Strictly Come Dancing 2016

Postby stereoman » Fri May 20, 2016 12:31 am

Am positive that Betfair poached some of Paddy Power's traders to have come up with this market as to who will take part in the next series of 'SCD'.

Anastacia 1/2
Alex Scott 8/13
Mans Zelmerlow 4/6
Paul Hollywood 8/11
Ruth Langsford 4/5
Eamonn Holmes 10/11
Daniella Westbrook 11/10
Laura Main 6/5
Emma Willis 13/8
Joe McElderry 7/4
Holly Willoughby 9/4
Laura Whitmore 5/2
Tom Parker 11/4
Charlotte Crosby 7/2
Daniel Craig 4/1
Ant (Not Dec) 9/2
Louis Walsh 9/2
Danny Dyer 13/2
Sue Barker 13/2
Richard Osman 7/1
Tim Henman 15/2
Cheryl Tweedy 8/1
Gary Lineker 8/1
Paula Abdul10/1
Stuart Lancaster 10/1
Sharon Davies 12/1
Tom Jones12/1
Stan Collymore 14/1
Judy Murray 16/1 (AGAIN!?)
Louis Theroux 18/1
Niall Horan 18/1
Ricky Martin18/1
Ellie Goulding 20/1
Alex Ferguson 25/1
Dec (Not Ant) 33/1
Graham Norton 33/1
Jet from Gladiators (aka Diane Youdale) 33/1
Kim Kardashian 66/1
Maria Sharapova 66/1

Don't think this is as well-informed as either of Paddy Power or William Hill's lists from last year.

Think it's Betfair's traders having a laugh and seeing if anyone is stupid enough to bite.

More plausible rumours will emerge soon enough in time for say, oooh September but if last year is anything to go by then 'nobody knows anything'. I doubt they'll have someone from a boyband again so soon as they seem to dominate the competition.

The usual suspects:

* Someone from a soap opera (preferably 'EastEnders')
* Someone who works on/for the BBC
* Some poor bugger from BBC Breakfast
* Some pop star
* Some out of work actor in between jobs
* Some sportsperson
* Someone who is far too old
* Someone you've never heard of
* An ex-Olympian considering it's an Olympic year

One for 2017 rather than this year but as Len Goodman announces that the upcoming series will be his last, the oddsmakers have put up odds as to who will replace him.

These are Ladbrokes' odds:

Who will be the next Permanent Judge? Dead Heat rules apply

Anton du Beke 2/1
Karen Hardy 7/1
Ian Waite 8/1
Louie Spence 10/1
Tom Chambers 10/1
Arlene Phillips 12/1
Kimberly Wyatt 16/1
Erin Boag 16/1
Wayne Sleep 20/1
Brendan Cole 20/1
Lionel Blair 20/1
Zoe Ball 20/1
Davina McCall 25/1
Ashley Banjo 25/1
Alesha Dixon 25/1
Vincent Simone 33/1
Ruthie Henshall 33/1
Carlos Acosta 50/1
Joaquin Cortes 50/1

The person who succeeds Len Goodman won't necessarily become 'head judge' as it'd most probably go to based on 'length of time spent doing the show' be Bruno or Craig or if 'international standing' is the criteria even Darcey.

Anton du Beke (or Tony Beek as he's known) has been an absolutely loyal servant. Was rumoured for a long long time to be Bruce Forsyth's replacement but the BBC went 'left field' and picked Claudia Winkleman.

Anton has to be a likely contender and considering he's never going to win the show, this wouldn't be too bad but the BBC may easily go 'left field' again and choose someone with 'international dance judging' pedigree instead so possibly someone we've never heard of.

The Sun says Lesley Joseph is taking part and hidden in the article, Louise Redknapp and Robert Rinder (he of 'Judge Rinder' um, fame).

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1 ... -hit-show/

If that's the case then that's four of probably twelve taking part.

EDIT: Len Goodman wants Anton du Beke to replace him apparently.

Laura Whitmore apparently going in according to The Sun.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1 ... tly-debut/

There's a mole at the BBC working for The Sun or um, something or other. Looks to be the least impressive list of celebrities ever and 'SCD' have some right "Who are they!?" groups.

Updated outright winner odds from Betfair:

Ryan Thomas 7/1
Laura Whitmore 8/1
Chris van Tulleken 10/1
Louise Redknapp 10/1
Xand van Tulleken 10/1
Charlotte Crosby 16/1
Robert Rinder 16/1
Anastacia 20/1
Anna Richardson 20/1
Emma Willis 20/1
Alan Pardew 25/1
James Corden 25/1 (CBS/Sky give him around £7 million a year so he won't be appearing on 'SCD' for 'chump change')
Jessica Ennis-Hill 25/1
Paul Burrell 25/1
Scarlett Moffatt 25/1
Melvin Odoom 33/1
Shane Richie 33/1
Hannah Spearrit 40/1
Alex Scott 50/1
Paul Hollywood 50/1
Ruth Langsford 50/1
Debbie McGee 66/1
Eamonn Holmes 66/1
Sir Patrick Stewart 66/1
Roy Hodgson 100/1
David Cameron 200/1
Samantha Cameron 200/1

Betway have some odds and sods about...

Richard Osman 8/1
Holly Willoughby 8/1
Kevin Pietersen 10/1
Naga Munchetty 10/1

Vicky Pattison 16/1

Awful set of odds for some very unlikely contestants.

Ed Balls is the first person officially announced.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... cing-2016/

Ladbrokes must have been asked what his odds were as he's the only one been quoted for weeks at 50/1...after the announcement he's still 50/1.

No idea if they were stung last year by any ante-post Jay McGuinness gambles but I don't think they're taking any chances this year.

Will Young is the second contestant announced.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... -ballroom/

Ladbrokes go a measly 6/1 for him to be the first gay (male or female) celebrity winner. He's in 'desperation mode' and after he's just been released from island Records, he may give this the good ol' college try. 6/1 is still skinny though.

The third person announced on Wednesday morning on Nick Grimshaw's Radio One Breakfast Show.

Laura Whitmore the third announced...was 5/2 with Betfair just to be on the show. The line-up being released in ridiculously slow dribs and drabs...we know the drill by now.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... cing-2016/

I doubt she does a Caroline Flack but who knows!?

Ladbrokes go...

Laura Whitmore 4/1
Will Young 5/1
Ed Balls 50/1

Ore Oduba is the fourth um, person announced.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/strictly-c ... confirmed/

Unless he's good and/or popular that him emulating Chris Hollins (who I still believed absolutely robbed Ricky Whittle) to another in-house win seems unlikely.

No odds on him yet (understandable...I don't think the odds compilers have a Scooby Doo who he is) but Paddy Power generally more generous than Ladbrokes...

Will Young 7/1 (5/1 at William Hill!)
Laura Whitmore 8/1 (a skinny 6/1 at William Hill!)
Ed Balls 50/1 (a measly 33/1 at William Hill!)

Paddy also has some uh, 'specials'...

Image

'Coronation Street' historically has never had anyone do well on the show (Georgia May Foote did finish second last year but she was no longer on 'Corrie' though) but that may change if Ryan Thomas is on this year...

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1 ... -training/

...yet Sun Bets (The Sun has a bookie now!?) goes 16/1 for him to win it all.

The Sun hasn't been proved right in any of their contestant declarations (they're high on Tim Peake being announced as a contestant alongside Anjelica Bell, Lesley Joseph, Louise Redknapp and Robert Rinder) yet but they're punting that the BBC want Australian 'Dancing with the Stars' judge Helen Richey to replace Len Goodman...who isn't in William Hill's list of contenders.

The BBC wanting a gender balanced judging panel? Most probably,
