Hmmm. 'Only' an estimated $180m but it beat 'BvS: DoJ' and that's all that matters...'X-Men: Apocalypse' ain't coming anywhere near that.

Seen that. Still think it could be the biggest grossing film of the year.

Did Betway ever get back to you about the terms of the bet?

Watched Civil War last night, and easily as good as it's said to be. Strong story-line, gripping on -screen rivalry splitting the Avengers (almost making you choose while you watch!) and the now expected sensational effects - heightened by watching it in X-D, btw!

Good reviews will continue rolling in, ensuring the box-office totals keep rising

'Captain America: Civil War' has in just under three weeks got itself...$678.4m!!

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4183&p=.htm

It's already the sixth biggest movie of the year so far. Could be the first movie to smash the billion dollar mark even ahead of 'Zootopia' in a Michael Phelps smashes the buzzer ahead of Milorad Čavić to win a seventh gold medal in Beijing 2008 type way.

WOW!! Looks like 'Captain America: Civil War' is going to set a lofty benchmark for everyone else to get at...$1.5 billion isn't inconceivable!

The omens are not good for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'...

BOM's three day estimate:

X-Men: Apocalypse (4,148 theaters) - $67.41 M
Alice Through the Looking Glass (3,763 theaters) - $40.26 M
The Angry Birds Movie (3,932 theaters) - $21.37 M
Captain America: Civil War (3,395 theaters) - $17.79 M
Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (3,416 theaters) - $11.77 M

Even including Memorial Day/Monday, BOM's estimates are:

X-Men: Apocalypse - $82.2 M
Alice Through the Looking Glass - $52.03 M
The Angry Birds Movie - $27.78 M
Captain America: Civil War - $23.12 M
Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising - $14.83 M

When I said "...ain't coming anywhere near that", I did expect low $110m not below $100m though!

Betway have still to get back to me about the conditions of the bet.

Reshoots for multi-million dollar films aren't uncommon but anything related to 'Star Wars' would have to be really awful (even worse than the prequels!) not to make any serious money.

In other news...188Bet have settled their opening weekend box office bet with 'Captain America: Civil War' as the very easy winner.

Not sure if I'll get to enjoy any winnings as I'm still chasing them for a fair amount of loose change. Lesson? Don't withdraw money to an expired debit card, kids.

I've contacted Betway again by chat and they say it's up until the end of the calendar year with the winner declared on 1st January 2017.

Me: It's a bit of a weird question but it's in regards to a specific market and is likely more suited to the traders who put up the odds but I was wondering about what the conditions of the 'Highest Grossing Movie of 2016' bet are? It's under Specials > Movies > Box office. It seems a bit vague. I'm assuming it's 'biggest worldwide gross at the end of 31st December 2016' or something like that but I'm not really sure.
Neil: YEs I can see the market, what is confusing about it?
Me: The conditions of the bet aren't clear as there are none just a sentence of 'Highest Grossing Movie of 2016'. Is it 'highest worldwide gross at the end of 31st December 2016' (which is what I'm assuming it is), just US/Canada (it might be instead) or is it another criteria...I'd like it to be made as clear as possible, please.
Neil: It will be the highest Grossing movie world wide.
Me: ...by 31st December 2016?
Neil: No the 01/01//2017
Me: Alright then, thanks. No idea why there isn't a disclaimer. It's a bit vague.
Neil: The market time frame is listed above the selections.

It's not particularly clear what the conditions of the bet though is it!? Cheeky sort.

Betway still have odds up for this until the end of the year. Small limits whatever the case.

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' made $742m after three weeks...

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pa ... rwars7.htm

...so 'Rogue One' surely is not going to make more than $1.147b between December 14th and the end of the year!?

That clears it up!

I mentioned this in my blog but Finding Dory could have a big say in this. It was 20/1 but now down to 5s

Star Wars won't make that much money by the end of the year...

Yeah, 'Finding Dory' is a live bet as it has still yet to open in places like Germany & Italy BUT it's still a little over $200m behind the current leader 'Captain America: Civil War'.

http://variety.com/2016/film/news/findi ... 201838910/

I think 'Finding Dory' will just fall short but it should finish ahead of 'The Jungle Book'.

The current top um, twelve biggest grossing films worldwide...
