Daniel Craig turns down close to £70m for two more James Bond films!?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05 ... hiddlesto/

Looks like there will be a new James Bond for the 25th film.

Depending who you believe either:

* Tom Hiddleston is in 'advanced talks' or
* Aiden Turner is the alternative choice

Popbitch are crowing about Paddy Power cutting Aiden Turner's odds. Whoop-de-do. It doesn't mean a thing until aftereventing....mind you, he's now the favourite as every other bookie has taken cover as Aiden and Tom have now flip-flopped.

I do find it a little bizarre (probably just me) that both are the apparent frontrunners but then there's this...

It seems like Susanne Bier could be the first woman to direct a James Bond film and I suppose getting Tom Hiddleston on board seems like a given then. I didn't think 'The Night Manager' was that good but it's certainly better than 'London Spy' (admittedly a different proverbial kettle of fish entirely).

I still believe Daniel Craig is very VERY foolish to turn down two more films for around £70m just to be on some TV show called 'Purity'.

I'm surprised no one has seriously considered Luke Evans as a potential dark-horse. Seems tailor made for the role.

Anyone else see the thing about Jamie Bell having meetings for the role? Gillian Andersons name mentioned too!
Mentioned before but I can take or leave James Bond. Would quit like it to be shaken up a bit.

Aiden Turner may be snookered by the fact he's committed to do a third series of 'Poldark' (shades of Pierce Brosnan and 'Remington Steele' here which paved the way for Timothy Dalton)...

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/poldark/ne ... ames-bond/

...which might explain why the odds on James Norton has dropped considerably. I remember the supposed gamble on him but it looks like a proper one has formed this time as he goes into odds-on. I don't see him as James Bond either but mind you, I was one of many who didn't quite see Daniel Craig as James Bond either.

The "Is she really going out with him?" factor faced by Tom Hiddleston has hindered him as most folks simply don't believe his romance with Taylor Swift is genuine and is in fact, probably for one of her music videos.

Jack Huston now gambled into favourite with many bookies.

Could be a good choice. He was great in Boardwalk Empire

Odds have been all over the place which suggests something or other. Jack Huston is still generally the narrow favourite ahead of James Norton.

I couldn't call it, and am very much on the fence as to who I'd want it to be as I have no favourite. I'd imagine Barbara Broccoli not Michael G Wilson has the final word.

Meanwhile...whoever gets the gig might end up acting opposite with Margot Robbie.

Am curious that sportsbet.com.au (that's Paddy Power's Australian sports betting firm) have odds on who will be the next Bond girl but yet again, it's neither on Betfair or Paddy Power (always thought there was something odd about their odds compilers...they seem to flit between the two):

I think they'll go for an 'obscure but gorgeous European actress' again rather than someone like Margot Robbie who, let's face it, is going to be suddenly be very expensive to hire thanks to 'Suicide Squad' no matter how well it does/doesn't do.

Aiden Turner back as narrow favourite again apparently.

The Sun essentially covering all the bases by claiming that Barbara is in talks with around ten contenders.

They're now tying it in with their Sun Bets side business as to who's been bet on...

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1 ... s-roll-in/

Tom Hughes is the latest name to join the cavalcade of contenders. "Who he!?". He's Prince Albert to Jenna Coleman's Victoria in um, 'Victoria'.

Sun Bets's latest odds:

Aidan Turner 5/2
Luke Evans 3/1
Jack Huston 7/2
Michael Fassbender 5/1
Idris Elba 6/1
Charlie Hunnam 8/1
Tom Hiddleston 12/1
Damian Lewis 16/1
Tom Hughes 16/1
Henry Cavill 16/1
James Norton 16/1
Jamie Bell 16/1
Chris Hemsworth 20/1
Colin Salmon 20/1
Oliver Jackson-Cohen 20/1
Sam Worthington 20/1
Rupert Friend 25/1
Tom Hardy 25/1

I'm not particularly impressed but someone has to be the seventh James Bond. Ideally for EON it'd be something in their early thirties who they can tie down with a lengthy contract and thus won't go walkabout after four films.

OOOH!! Speculation that Daniel Craig has been offered $150m to do two final films then quit.

If he was holding out for more money then he's done better than Sean Connery here! I said Daniel would be foolish to turn down £70m+ but it's now £100m+! Even if they were awful (and 'Spectre' was not good), Daniel is not getting £100m+ elsewhere after doing James Bond!

William Hill ask "Spectre to be Daniel Craig's last film as James Bond?"

No 4/11, Yes 2/1

Now...

No 1/2 and Yes 6/4.

If there is to be a new James Bond for the next film, I'm surprised 'Yes' hasn't been hammered into huge odds-on by now.
