North Wales Crusaders v Whitehaven
Whitehaven are assured a Top 4 spot in the final 8 but their opponents today in the Nth Wales Crusaders still have a battle on their hands to make the cut-off. Lying in 10th spot on 12 points The Crusaders need to win their last 2 games to qualify and only if other results go their way as they are the last of a bunch of teams with equal points but with the worst points differential. Coming off a 32 point road flogging of hapless Oxford, the Welshmen needed a good hit out after being pushed early on by bottom Sth Wales the game prior, they have gone off the boil of late but their is enough skill and experience in this side to take it to 3rd placed 'Haven who have not been convincing lately. With a huge injury list they have struggled lately to get the right numbers on the park. 25 year old Captain/Coach Carl Forster picked up a wrist injury last week against Keighley but will play as Whitehaven press for a Club record of 12 consecutive wins and with players needing rest before the finals I'll say some key players will be pulled at the back end of this game if Haven get out to a good lead which should work into a spread pick on Nth Wales favour. Also, a win is a win in the eyes of Whitehaven looking at their record aspirations, and they are prone to slip into a protective phase with the lead in the last 10 min. The Crusaders have nothing to lose here and I think the will close in on their visitors and cover the generous -14 point start.
Result Tie 12-12
