Just seen the news that Judd Trump is having laser eye surgery so that could spark a more consistent level of form?

Beaten 5-0 by Sam Craigie in the World Open Qualfiers first game back after the surgery? Hard to judge Trump I don't doubt his talent but can be hit and miss at times more so than the other top players.

I watched it from when he was 3-0 down and he didn't look interested to me. Pretty much went for anything and didn't seem to think about his shots. Won't be backing him for any tournaments in the near future.

Think he used to put in a few of these type of performances a couple of years ago often when he was losing but thought seen an end of it.

Maybe I dismissed Luca Brecel too lightly after he beats Ronnie in China!

Maybe this could be a productive season for Brecel, who plays in the China Championship final tomorrow against Shaun Murphy.

I hope he wins it as this could help him kick on, seems like he's been about for ages now yet he's still only 22, one to keep an eye on perhaps.

It mght be noted as well that Judd has played some really good snooker, and probably more importantly, CONFIDENT, snooker here. It is a warning sign that he maybe about to unleash his full potential once again, which could be rather destructive to my strategy at the start of the thread.

There again, if he has a great run now, cockiness may get the better of him before the big ones!!

Impressive display from Ronnie O'Sullivan throughout the English open tough to beat on that form.

Well done Mark Allen for getting through to the Semi-Final of the International Championship in China but once again Judd Trump's shortcomings in his shot selection and safety game were cruelly exposed. Too often he looks for the perfect safety to put his opponent in maximum trouble at the risk of letting him off the hook if he fails to achieve perfection. Even worse are the number of times he attempts a difficult shot as evidenced by the fact that he misses it, only to let his opponent in with the remaining balls at his mercy. Steve Davis was often accused of being lucky when he missed a shot and left nothing on completely missing the point that he chose to leave the cue ball where he did in the event (rarely as it turned out) that he would miss. Until Judd can improve this aspect of his game no amount of 'naughty snooker' will be enough for him to win the titles to elevate him to the status of a great.

17 year old Yan Bingtao has impressed this week beating Ronnie O'Sullivan 6-1, Ricky Walden 6-4, Jack Lisowski 6-4 and John Higgins 6-2 and has scored heavily when he gets his chances he qualified for the Crucible last season losing to Shaun Murphy 10-8 he doesn't fear the top players and has a lot of potential odds have been cut for the UK championship and world championship.
