As I'm late posting this thread, as long as you post your player BEFORE they play their 1st round match, it will be allowed. There are only 13 matches scheduled on Sunday ( 7 of which are in Strasbourg)

Borna Coric Lyon Open 14/1
I am picking Borna Coric as my player of the week as he has done ok on clay so far this season winning 9 matches and losing 5 matches and his last tournament was at the Madrid Master were he made it to the quarter-finals were he lost to D.Thiem.This is the first time Coric is playing at this event and in the first round he takes on Nikoloz Basilashvili who is ranked at number 70th in the world and this is the first time these 2 players will face each other but he has won just 1 match on clay so far and lost 4 so i think Coric will beat him.In the 2nd round he should meet Andres Seppi who they have played once and Seppi won that match back in 2015 at Wimbledon but Coric was very inexperienced player back then and i think he should be able to beat Seppi as he has won 2 and lost 5 times from 7 matches on clay so far this season. In the quarter-final he should face N.Kyrgios and these 2 players have played 2 times and they both have managed to win 1 each Kygios won on clay while Coric won on a hard court. So i would expect Coric to make it to at least the qaurter-finals were i think he has a chance of beating Kygios to face probably Tsonga in the semi-finals.

Lots of tennis to get stuck into this week. After sticking my neck out in the women's event last week, I'm going back to the men which is probably about 75% of my tennis viewing. Only 5 times this season has an unseeded player won an event on the ATP Tour so that narrows down my possible selections straight away from 56 to just 16 players.

Being the week before the French Open, match practice is the thing on most players minds. Winning the tournament would be great, but getting to the Quarter-Finals and 2-3 matches on clay under their belts with a couple of days off before the Grand Slam would be just as good, if not better. For that reason I'll be avoiding the likes of Wawrinka & Nishikori in Geneva (both players took late wildcards) whilst as inspiring as Isner's run to the Rome SF was, I'm not about to start suddenly backing him on a surface that really doesn't suit his game.

Staying in Geneva though and it's 3rd seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas who gets my nod at 12/1 (Bet Victor). After reaching the final in Monte Carlo & QF n Barcelona he has suffered back to back 1st round defeats in Madrid & Rome and will want to get that confidence back ahead of the French Open where he has his QF points to defend from last year. He's reached 4 clay court finals on the tour, including 2 in 2017 and apart from a potential 2nd round clash with Thomaz Bellucci, doesn't really have to face any clay court specialists under at least the SF where a possible opponent is top seed Wawrinka.

Player : Steve Johnson (25/1 BetVictor)

Tournament : ATP Geneva

Busy schedule this week in the lead up to Roland Garros next Sunday and I tend to steer clear of the main contenders for the French Open who will be mainly fine tuning this week and although favourite Stan Wawrinka is defending his Geneva title this week on home soil and may be be motivated to retain as a result, he is one I always have reservations regarding application and motivation outside of the major opens. At decent odds I'm siding with fifth seed and world number twenty five Steve Johnson who primarily prefers the hard courts and grass but arrives on the back of winning the title at Charleston last month on clay, beating clay court specialists Verdasco, Bellucci, Brown and world number fourteen Jack Sock. So Steve is unbeaten on the clay in 2017 and has a decent looking draw with Stephane Robert first up and a very winnable second game against Zeballos or Lajovic should he progress. Get's trickier with possibly Isner in the quarter final who reached the semi in Rome last week, then Niskikori would be the most likely opponent in the semi who I would never be worried about taking on with it seems continued physical and fitness issues. Wawrinka aside who is in the other half of the draw I think Steve can be competitive against anyone and even if he faces Stan should they make the final, he should have a good shout.

Lots of tennis today but slim pickings and the only one that takes my fancy is Radu Albot to make it 4 wins from 4 against Gastao Elias. What puts me off slightly is that Elias has come through qualifying.

French Open qualifying starts today. British interest with Bryden Klein

Player : Daria Gavrilova

Tournament : WTA Strasbourg

This looks quite open with most of the top players not competing in it as the French Open begins at the end of this month. I am going with Daria Gavrilova 11/1 to win her first WTA title. She is ranked at 33 in the world and has been playing in stronger events than this one this year. She did reach the final in Russia last year and has beaten some decent players in the last 2 years including Sharapova, Kerber and Halep so she is capable of winning this moderate event.

ATP Lyon - Juan Martin Del Potro 10/3 Betfair

I have been watching Del Potro (on TV) playing a couple of matches in Roma and he looked in fine form to me. He had a tough draw and started against Dimitrov in the first round: he lost the first set and reacted very calmly playing almost perfect in the second and third. Dimitrov is not a clay player but it's also a bad matchup for a first round. Then he had Edmund in the second, another out-of-form player but still decent on clay. Beating Nishikori in straight sets also proved his abilities to beat top ten are intact. His draw in Lyon looks decent, with Granollers in first round, Albot or Elias in the 2nd, and Raonic (not a clay player) the most likely rival in QF. The others highest seeds in his half of the draw are Berdych (not a clay player) and Gilles Simon (bad season so far). I think Chung could be dangerous in that half after winning 3 matches, but he has Berdych now. Del Potro won 4 titles on clay in the ATP Tour, still the last one dates back to 2012. He's a 19-8 balance in finals, so when he gets to the last match he usually gets the job done

Today I see value in Haase to beat Zverev even @1.44 on William Hill . 2-0 Haase @ 2.25 on Betway

Zverev has a 15-40 balance on clay in the ATP Tour, and he's 1-6 this season on this surface. He won 2 matches to get to the main draw but his rivals were a 496 and a 521 ranked players. Before those wins he had lost 7 of 8 winning just 1 set. Haase is fine on clay and had a decent season so far, he can't make this slip away

Good luck to the tennis 5 - if we can get around 10 tennis experts over the next couple of weeks then we will be in with a chance of finding some great bets like the golf POTW.

Too late to make it as a tip but going by the rankings Sam Querrey should be able to beat Franco Skugor in straight sets as he is ranked at number 344th and his best ranking was 145th while Querrey is ranked at number 28th in the world. And in his last tournament he beat Struff ranked 47th and L.Pouille ranked number 17th in the world and he beat them both in straight sets.
