Readers want to see your reasoning and discussion as to why they should back a particular player in the above events so please make any posts interesting and informative. Discussion is welcomed and encouraged, the more points and approaches we have in this thread can only help as we decide on our selections ahead of round one. We understand your selection may not be for a betting purpose like others but more for an OLBG selection or simply for your Fantasy Golf team so all input and opinions can only help this thread grow.

It would be great if in time we developed into a group of golf tipsters and experts each adding their ONE 'Player of the Week' accompanied by 100-125 words. Max 1 event - 1 entry only.

PLEASE NOTE - Picking the same golfer as a fellow tipster is allowed but we encourage unique picks from everyone so there is more information in our thread for all to read.
Important: All POTW comments must be original and not lifted from any source. Of course POTW players need to do research but the comments must be in your original words.

Player: Martin Kaymer

Tournament: Open d'Italia

Reasons For Support:

Martin Kaymer played with his brother last week in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and the former winner finished 36th. 20th the week before at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports, Kaymer is starting to show a little form again and his ball striking has clearly improved. 20th at Golf Club Milano last year, in 2015 Kaymer finished runner up to Rikard Karlberg in Italy and a return to a course which clearly suits his game can give the German major winner a real chance of putting some Ryder Cup points on the board early in this Rolex Series event. Kaymer to contend at a nice price of 40/1 this week in the Open d'Italia.

Player: David Lingmerth

Tournament: Open d'Italia

Reasons For Support:

I have been watching David Lingmerth for a few months now and I think the Swede is really going to challenge for a place on the European Ryder Cup team next year. 20th in the Portugal Masters and then 4th in the British Masters, David has been in solid form with results like 5th in the Quicken Loans National and 12th in the Dean & DeLuca Invitational. He is a strong iron player and the course in Italy might suit his style of golf this week. 45/1 is his price this week and I am going to back him to win the Open d'Italia :D

Player : Ross Fisher

Event : Italian Open

Reason for Support : I am with Ross this week to get back to winning ways, as with many other people I was very impressed with Ross's play last week breaking the course record at the home of golf St Andrews. He did not just beat it he smashed it and still missed a short one for a 60 this record will stand for a long time. If he can play half as good this week he has a chance now that he has come into form, he has never won this event but came 7th on his only start in this in 2014 a few years ago. gl all

Player Tommy Fleetwood

Event Italian Open

Reason Tommy Fleetwood finished 7th in this event last year but is ranked almost 140 places higher for this year Itailian Open that shows what a improved golfer he as been over the past 12 months. He's already won the french open back in July and Fleetwood would love to do the double and although he's not looked at his best over the last 4 tournaments his record proves he's more than capable of picking up his third tour win of the season and he's also had 6 other top ten finishers this year. The Parco Reale di Monza golf course seams to suit his play better than the Links course he faced in his last tournament the Alfred Dunhill and he needs a good score here to retain his position as the leader in the Race to Dubai Rankings.

Player: Fabrizio Zanotti

Tournament: Open d'Italia

Reasons For Support:

Back to back third place finishes for Fabrizio Zanotti including the Omega European Masters in Switzerland which is a short course where you must plot your way around. 3rd in the Italian Open at this course two years ago, it's a venue he likes and he looks a really big price this week. Zanotti isnt the longest off the tee but he is straight and finds a lot of fairways so this tree lined course will be to his liking. Steady iron player and a good putter, it's weeks like this where the Paraguayan has a real chance of winning. 100/1 with Betfred and bet365.

Player Xander Schauffele

Event CIMB Classic

This time last year he was 434th in The World Rankings and only four months ago he was 352nd but out of nowhere he has had two victories, including the final FEDEX Event, the Tour Championship, which included the top thirty players in The world this year. He also had a 5th in The US Open and is up to 32nd in The World Rankings. He appears unfazed by the big events and could be something special

Player. Mathew Fitzpatrick
Event. Italian Open
Reason

Mathew Fitzpatrick was 16th in this last year in a memorable event won by Francisco Mollinari his home event Mathew dropped away with a poor final round by his standards after putting himself right in the mix in round 3 he won the omega masters recently and followed that with a good effort in the British masters and again at the Alfred Dunhill last week both times finishing just outside the top ten and looks in very good touch still improving on the European circuit he looks sure to give it a good go this week .

Good luck y'all some good priced decent pick me thinks.

Player: Amy Yang

Tournament: KEB Hana Bank Championship

Amy Yang 35/1 has not played well in her latest LPGA tournaments but she was in better form earlier this season as she won the Honda LPGA Thailand in February and obtained three consecutive top 10 finishes during the summer including a jt 2nd at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in June. I think that she may return to her best here at this tournament in her native country as the course suits her style of play. She won this event in 2013 and came jt 4th in 2015. Last year she was in contention after 3 rounds but shot a final round of 76 to finish jt 23rd. Looks worth an e/way interest in the circumstances.

Player: Paul Casey

Event: CIMB Classic
Reasons for support: If you were going on consecutive cuts made, Paul Casey is the most reliable player on the PGA Tour. He has made the cut in his last 20 events. His scoring average for 2017 is sub-70 at 69.47. Although he hasn't posted a win over the last 12 months, he has had 9 Top 10 finishes from the 24 events he has played. The latter half of the year has been particularly good for him. From the nine tournaments he has played since June, he has posted five Top Five finishes. The last of those was also his last event--- the TOUR Championship where he finished outright fifth.

Italian Open

Chris Paisley i got 200s Betfred

Has course form after finishing tied 3rd here last year ,he has had a mixed year with missing cuts or finishing top20 ,he fired a 63 in second round here last year so obviously likes the course and good memories appear to mean alot to these pros , see Hatton and Steele last week,

On his social media states he has been playing well and feeling good just not getting the scores his play deserves ,like them all probably
