Welcome to the final round of Player of the Week 2022, hope everyone are keeping safe and well.
There are five tournaments this week featuring the DP World Tour Championship.
If you have not played in previously then please feel free to come and have a go, below are the competition rules and scoring.
Player of the Week 2022:
*Change for the 2022 POTW Competition
Weekly Selections
*A player can only be selected ONCE during the season. So if you select Justin Thomas for the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Week 1 you cannot select him again during the 2022 weekly competition.
Golfer To Follow For The Year
In addition to a weekly selection we are asking members to nominate a golfer to follow for the year, once you have submitted your golfer to follow for the year ahead you do not need to post he/she every time you enter a weekly pick. We will confirm each week with the weekly selections if your golfer to follow for the year is active.
The golfer to follow for the year can be from any of the recognised tours and a selection will be required when members post their first weekly entry for 2022. This selection will earn points every time they finish in the top five places in a tournament.
*Your 'Golfer to Follow for the Year' selection can also be used ONCE as a weekly selection throughout the season, scoring will be the usual weekly points criteria plus additional points if he/she finishes in the top five places in a tournament.
Selection Analysis
A key factor in the feedback from OLBG golf fans following ‘Player of the Week’ is the analysis which accompanies a member's selection so we require at least 50 WORDS explaining why you think your golfer is a good bet, this is just a few lines and extremely useful for readers looking to follow your selection.
POTW 2022 CRITERIA RECAP
- For your first entry of 2022 we require your 'Golfer to Follow' for the year AND your selection for that week.
- After a 'Golfer to Follow' has been submitted it will then be ONE selection per week (not a player you have selected previously in the current POTW competition), with at least 50 words explaining your pick.
- If you select a player you have already selected in an earlier week of the current POTW competition then you will be asked to pick another player, if the replacement selection is not received before the entry cut off time then your original duplicated selection will be void for that week. It is advisable to keep track of the players you have selected in previous weeks of the current POTW competition to avoid any issues.
- The same golfer CAN be selected even if he/she has already been picked by another member that week.
- If your player withdraws BEFORE the tournament starts you can select a new pick as long as it is received before the cut off for entries.
- Deadline for entries each week will be before the scheduled first tee off time of the tournament your player is competing.
*The revised competition scoring is detailed below.
WEEKLY SCORING
- Tournament Winner = 100 points
- 2nd = 50 points
- 3rd = 35 points
- 4th = 25 points
- 5th = 20 points
- 6th to 10th = 15 points
- 11th to 20th = 10 points
- 21st to 30th = 5 points
*For events where there are less than the normal field size, the points available for finishing places will be highlighted under This Week's Tournament Section below.
ADDITIONAL POINTS
- A Round Leader (1st, 2nd & 3rd) = 10 points
- Made The Cut = 5 points
ODDS BONUS MULTIPLIER
(Multiplier applied to final points (Finishing Position + Additional Points) based on the win odds of the selection))
- Up to 10/1 (11.0) = Points x 1
- 11/1 (12.0) to 20/1 (21.0) = Points x 1.5
- 21/1 (22.0) to 50/1 (51.0) = Points x 2
- 51/1 (52.0) to 80/1 (81.0) = Points x 2.5
- 81/1 (82.0) to 125/1 (126.0) = Points x 3
- 126/1 (127.0) to 250/1 (251.0) = Points x 3.5
- 251/1 (252.0) to 500/1 (501.0) = Points x 4
- 501/1 (502.0) and higher = Points x 5
So the bonus multiplier works on the basis of points earned that week. For example, a player @ best priced win odds of 25/1 making the cut but finishing outside the top 30 would earn 10 points (cut points = 5) x 2 (Bonus Multiplier 21/1 to 50/1).
Another example, a player was first round leader, made the cut and finished 5th @ best priced win odds of 16/1 would earn 52.5 points (10+5+20 x 1.5).
Dead Heat rules do not apply where there are place ties for point scoring, full points will be awarded.
GOLFER to FOLLOW (YEAR)
- Tournament Winner = 100 points
- Runner Up = 50 points
- 3rd = 25 points
- 4th = 15 points
- 5th = 10 points
* No other additional points will be awarded for this pick
Majors
Points will be doubled (including for Golfer of the Year picks) for the 4 majors (US Masters, The US Open, The Open Championship and the USPGA Championship)
PRIZES
£15 to the Winner, this will be the member with the highest points total at the end of the year/final tournament week.
£5 to the Runner up.

Player : Scott Hend 16-1. Skybet
Event : Queensland PGA Championship
Reason for Support : For my last pick of the year I shall go for the old veteran 51year old Scott who is coming home to Queensland this week and will have the home support. He shot 62 in the first round last week in The International Series Egypt but finished 13th in the end. Scott has won ten times on The Asian Tour where he mostly plies his trade and three on the European Tour. Gl all
P.S. Well done Steveocn on winning this year, hopefully we go again in 2023.

Re: Golf Tips - 'Player of The Week' 2022 (W/B 14th November)
Player - Mackenzie Hughes 40/1
Tournament - The RSM Classic
Reasons for Support -
The Canadian is back inside the world’s top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings and he returned to the winners circle last month at the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour. 23rd at the Zozo Championship and 16th in the Cadence Bank Houston Open since that win, I fancy a return to The RSM Classic will be right in Mackenzie Hughes’ wheelhouse this week. The 31 year old won around the Seaside Course at Sea Island back in 2016 and twelve months ago he finished runner up to Talor Gooch in The RSM Classic. He opened with a 63 and closed with a 62 that week to finish three shots behind his fellow countryman and with his game looking in good shape right now, I am siding with Mackenzie Hughes to play his way into contention over the four days in Georgia.

First of all a massive thank you to STEVEOCN and denden for keeping the show on the road all year and also to the occasional posters. Well done to STEVEOCN for winning the £15 top prize, finishing with a 2225 points total and denden takes the £5 runner up prize with a 1860 points tally (prizes will be paid in the next few days).
We don't need Sherlock Holmes to conclude it's been a struggle for weekly entries this year and as a result this will be my last POTW post. If any member wishes to host the weekly POTW next year they are obviously more than welcome, however with so few entries we (OLBG) would not be able to support a competition format with an end of season prize.
Thanks to everyone who have supported the POTW through my time hosting the thread over the past few years.
Best wishes everyone for healthy 2023 and stay safe.
