Football - List of Penalty takers

Postby Final Score Tips » Mon Nov 05, 2007 12:48 am

This is my first post all, and it's an idea that I'm sure has been done before so please don't bite my head off.

Not a system as such, more of a factor I take into account when I'm playing in the 'First Goalscorer' market.

One thing I ALWAYS take into account when selecting my First Goalscorer is 'who takes the penalties'.

I particularly like strikers who take their clubs penalties for this...

Two examples...

Tottenham - Robbie Keane (if Ramos picks him)
Blackburn - Benni McCarthy

Both of these players bag their fair share of goals anyway - but if say their club earns an early penalty - there's a damn fine chance you're gonna land the bet. The odds are usually about 4/1 ish.

How's about we list as many club's penalty takers as possible on this thread? A good idea??

Welcome to the site! :)

Arsenal
van Persie when fit, then Adebayor and Gilberto Silva take them on occasion

Aston Villa
Gareth Barry is usually top man

Birmingham
Kapo I believe takes them

Blackburn
Benni McCarthy usually first in line, then Gamst I think

Bolton
Nic Anelka, Gary Speed, El Hadji Diouf all take em, mainly Speedy though

Chelsea
Lampard takes the pens, second probably Drogba

Derby
maybe Giles Barnes, probably Rob Earnshaw or Kenny Miller

Everton
Andy Johnson, Yakubu, Cahill, Osman, McFadden can ALL take pens, usually the first two when they are playing though

Fulham
Simon Davies or Hameur Bouazza me thinks

Liverpool
Stteevvvie Geerrrrarrddd, 2nd probs Riise or Torres

Man City
Elano, then second in line Petrov I would imagine

Man United
Ronaldo or Giggsy (usually Ron)

Middlesbrough
Stewart Downing, dont know who would after him

Newcastle
Oba Martins, then second in line Emre, Geremi? Got a few...

Portsmouth
After Benjani and Kanus 'penalty bans' from 'arry, wouldnt look at those, Muntari and Kranjcar are the obvious choices (thats right FST i'm a Pompey fan)

Reading
Kitson, maybe a bit of Hunt

Sunderland
Not sure about these lot, I think Kenwyne Jones probably

Tottenham
Usually Robbie Keane, maybe Jenas or even Berbs oooh and Darren Bent!

West Ham
Solano, Bellamy are the first players that spring to mind

Wigan
Koumas 1st, Marcus Bent 2nd

hope that helps, as for Premiership pen takers!

Hope I can help with the wolves penalty taker, dont matter who takes it, we miss everytime anyway
Eastwood took one last week at Ipswich and passed it to there keeper, we really are dire at penaltys, dont touch us with a barge pole.
Dont look up, Look down, theres always someone worse off than yourself..

Lauren and Taylor also can take pens if on the field.

Its usually between Gerrard and Alonso for Liverpool, Kuyt took 2 in the derby though

Benitez is a bit weird in his ways, decides before the game who might take them

Torres didnt have the best time in Spain with them apparently, just over 50% conversion i read somewhere.

Maybe why he never got to bag his hat-trick last night
