Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

School Boy Hours. I have my own system readjusting RPR's before and after weights out. I certainly make a Grade B 100K chase win over 3miles off 10.08 and RPR 145 significantly better than 2nd at 3m/1.5f 6K beginners chase off 12stone and RPR 147 (all but one runner running off 12stone). However, I...

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

School Boy Hours
Has OK RPR for this season (just) but not for previous seasons. Best TS rating very low for a GN winner. Not on my shortlist - watching brief.

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

Agree with redflash on Secret Reprieve Time To Get Up Secret Reprieve while he has a good RPR for this GN season does not have a good enough previous RPR for the pre GN season which implies he peaked for the Ladbroke Chase and may find it hard to win again for a time. On OR 138 he will not qualify. ...

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

Just having a re look at the Irish National. Freewheelin Dylan - just wondering if this one peaked for the April 2021 Irish National and maybe thats as good as it gets? - certainly the post-Irish National form says that may be the case - no decent RPR this season and the last two runs are UR/PU. Vie...

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

Enjoy D'allen does have a nice profile. For me his that his RPR prior to this season is a bit on the low side (best was RPR 149 off 10.10) and this season while better is still RPR 153 off 11.06. So to make my very short list he would need another run (and probably a win or good 2nd) and an even bet...

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

Any views on this one who looks good on trends. Fiddlerontheroof OR 157 - 2nd in the Ladbroke Chase at Newbury over 3m 2f in a G3. I now have a reasonable short list which at this stage excludes anything that has not run so far this season. Does anyone have an idea when the first round of voting wil...

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

Aye Right looking good on trends - any views on this one?
OR 159
Won C1 chase this season.
2nd to Cloth Cap in 2020 Ladbrooke Trophy (G3) over 3m2f.

Possibly a few pounds now too high for his own good after that win

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

Done a little more research for the team. You can almost forget any GN runner who has not had a run (of any sort) by the end of the first week in January in the GN winning sason - that a run by the end of today. This is a twenty year+ trend for GN winners. I would not exclude looking again at a runn...

The Jam Man does look interesting but we need to see a run over a longer chase distance this season - could be anything.

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

Trainers top 2 possibles for this year's Grand National: If you think I have missed any or got the order wrong let us know. Gordon Elliot: Galvin OR 167 - headed for the Gold Cup.Would carry nearly top weight if he runs in GN which I think is unlikely unless he falls in the first few fences in GC. A...

Re: GN Guide Bloggers Grand National 2022 - Early Thoughts part 1

Just a bit of fun and homework for the New Year and may help a little. What are the top two possible runners for each of the say 12 leading UK/Irish trainers? Keeping a close eye on Gordon Elliott myself. Anyone like to assist? Top six Irish trainers for 2020/2021 were (by prize money): W.P. Mullins...
