Re: Horse Racing Discussion Weekly Thread: Mon 18th June - Sun 24th June (Inc Royal Ascot)

The Irish Rover is value in the Coventry - best performance of his brief career under similar conditions last time, sire won here... a renewal which lacks the strength in depth of previous seasons. Washington DC was just a head behind Battash last time but is 16-1. Cleonte is now 7 pounds lower and ...

Beginning to like the look of Romanised in the St James Palace. Quick ground and a stiff finish should be ideal. He's a more mature horse thise year and appears to be improving rapidly.

Re: 2018 Aintree Grand National

This is my summary list : Anibale Fly Has an inconsistent profile overall but tends to run well when granted a stiff track and testing conditions. Aintree isn’t a stiff track but he’ll love the ground...the fences might be another matter. Can sometimes get in too close and will be on his a*** here s...

Re: The Lincoln Handicap 2017

I’ve also backed Dolphin Vista for the potential place value. Watson isn’t a star in waiting (as yet) but he’s ridden a few winners recently and DV is an experienced horse and an uncomplicated ride. 5th last year, ran a fair race over hurdles recently (which he isn’t bred for ) so his well being is ...

Brilliant for Footpad. Ruby learned from the first race.

Shockers from Coleman and Russell. It was always going to be an issue for Saint Calvados backers.

Re: Arkle Trophy - Tuesday 13th March 2018 (Day 1)

A jockeys ability / record is factored into the price, along with that of his trainer.

It’s why “ if he were trained by Nicky Henderson he’d be much shorter odds “ is misleading, particularly at the festival

Re: Cheltenham 2018 trends and who fits the trends.

I think there’s an overlap with some of the trends, leading to the odd one being basically redundant. The trick is to use the strong trends to create a profile of the right horse. Ones that tick every box might be overbet ( trends and stats are used by layers and punters ) and something that fails o...
