Re: Horse Racing Discussion Thread: October 2018

OK, I'm in!

I'll go for the outsider Art Of Swing who is the only CD winner in the field. Roger Varian's is probably worth a punt too at a good ew price of 10/1+ he's probably capable of more after being gelded (the horse that is, not Varian :D )

Re: Is october a bad month for betting on horses?

Another pointer i look out for, if horse won the race last year, & in this year race etc.. One thing with that is that we really should still consider the conditions in an overall package i.e if we're considering the C,D, type of race, time of year, then we should also consider whether the going, w...

Desert Island runs tomorrow at Gowran Park (1.55) where he is currently a 12/1 shot.

Re: Horse Racing Discussion Thread: October 2018

Pumblechook was my initial choice too, but I think Excellent Result is more worthy of a punt. I think that aged 8, flat racing on firmer ground than this is not in his favour. He's proven to carry these bigger weights today which could anchor quite a few of these on soft ground. I think he's more li...

Re: Horse Racing Discussion Thread: October 2018

Seamie Heffernan so underrated as a jockey. Great to see Mullins bigging up one of my favourite jockeys on ITV racing.

AOB - take note!

Re: Is october a bad month for betting on horses?

I think finding a trainer in good form at this time of year is a factor that should help. Also horses who haven't been on the go all year and have been geared towards an Autumn/Winter campaign.

Re: 2018 Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe

I think the draw has won it for Enable there (think draw stats show 1-6 are well on top) where Sea Of Class was drawn 15. Can't knock her achievement though or the ride of Dettori. Job done for the Gosden stable, who hints at a hat-trick attempt next season.

Re: When to stop using a system?

I think you need to explore why the system might not be working before ditching it. For example, your system might be great in the early months of a season but then struggle as the season progresses. There are, of course, many possible reasons, but in the example, if you can put it on the shelf unti...

Re: 2018 Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe

Arc day today and although the fantastic Enable probably wins I'm going for a small ew on Salouen at a huge looking 80/1. This horse finished a head second to Cracksman in the Coronation Cup at Epsom back in June and if that horse had lined up today it would be amongst the principals. Just caught on...

Re: Horse Racing Discussion Thread: October 2018

I'm with most of the bookies but only really use Hills. Never had a problem depositing or withdrawing and find it easy to move around the website. Choices I consider usually seem a higher price with them for some reason! Corals and Skybet I've had issues with. Corals cancelled my account once becaus...

Re: RIP racehorses we've lost

The info on here comes from horsedeathwatch an animal rights type organisation against horse racing. Horse's dying naturally at home don't tend to make their list so if anyone spots a horse death like the excellent Edredon Bleu then of course please post. Many horses die on the racetrack or in train...

Re: Horse Racing Discussion Thread: Monday 24th September - Sunday 30th September

Cambridgeshire Sands Chorus was out of form and 100/1 when finishing 2nd in this race last year. He runs off the same mark today, seems to go on any ground and could and could be the type who comes alive in this kind of race. Third Time Lucky is a previous winner of this race and also placed 4th to...
