1. bet365

It’s easy to assume that the best bookmaker for greyhound racing would be an old school, legacy name that’s been pricing up the dogs for decades, but it’s actually bet365. The UK’s first online-only bookmaker scores the highest overall mark across our research. They’ve nailed their platform generally, and when it comes to greyhound racing there is brilliant event coverage, as many markets as possible, fantastic promotions and live streaming. On top of that you can even search by dog – an intuitive feature that has clearly been created by people who bet on greyhounds themselves.

2. Betfair

Betfair offers the best exchange betting for greyhounds, but the sportsbook offering is still excellent – it just depends what you're after as a bettor. Betfair offers live streaming and radio coverage on virtually every meeting going and the supporting statistics to go alongside are as good as anything that you’ll see in the industry. For those looking for enticing promotions, not only does Betfair offer daily odds boosts on greyhounds, it does so on three dogs per day, which is an incredibly generous feature. Each way bets are all ¼ odds, too, and Betfair is one of the few greyhound betting apps to offer acca insurance.

3. Coral

Most, if not all, bookmakers offer welcome offers and sign-up bonuses, but Coral are great at having these in tandem with a whole host of promotions for existing customers. This is a bookmaker who has been pricing up greyhounds for a very long time, and it shows. There is live streaming on all UK and Irish races, there’s very competitive odds and live radio commentary. When it comes to stats, Coral partner with TimeForm, meaning that there are write-ups for every race, with tips (usually three selections ranked by strength of conviction), something – as we’ve mentioned above – that suits new and experienced bettors alike.

4. Paddy Power

While the first thought with Paddy Power may be horse racing, don’t overlook the dogs because they are one of the best greyhound betting sites around. Their odds are brilliant, they offer Best Odds Guaranteed and their live streaming is slick and polished. Maybe to diminish the horse racing association they offer a huge range of greyhound specific promotions and, what probably sets them apart from most other greyhound betting sites, is their extra markets: think things such as inside vs outside, top three and winning distance.

5. Unibet

Partnering with the Racing Post means that Unibet offers a tonne of information pre-race. There are picks for the first three places and expert opinion on all runners. Add to that the form drop-down option for each runner and it makes Unibet one of the best greyhound betting apps (it’s worth saying this is as good on their site, also). Unibet offers a £40 money back special welcome bonus and they even have their own channel (Unibet TV) making it virtually impossible to miss out on any action.

6. BoyleSports

BoyleSports greyhound offering is a nice, well-thought out package. The Irish bookmaker (and sponsors of the Irish Derby) offer best odds on your favourite greyhounds and have an excellent welcome offer. It’s an example of looking out for newcomers, while still offering incentives to loyal customers. There are also plenty of bet boosts and, according to our research, BoyleSports are one of the market-leaders when it comes to ante post markets. A brilliant greyhound betting site allround.

7. William Hill

It would be a bit odd if we had conducted all our research and William Hill didn’t make a top 10 list for greyhounds given the reputation that they have garnered over decades of experience. For odds and markets William Hill is one of the best greyhound betting sites in the country. On top of the all UK and Irish races (as expected) they also offer most races from around the world (Japan, the United States, Australia etc.)

For those that want to watch races live, you can tune into William Hill TV, and in the absence of any live events, this virtual racing is about the best going. If you have put your bets together, you’ll be pleased to know that William Hill offers acca insurance, also.

8. BetFred

BetFred has one of the best greyhound betting apps in the industry, but whether you choose to use that, or bet online through their desktop version, the experience is fantastic either way. Widely known for their promotions, it’s more of the same when it comes to the dog track. For example, for any races that are shown on Sky TV, bettors get a free bet matched to their stake if they bet on a winner at odds of 2/1 or longer. For live streaming punters must place at least a £1 bet on the race to watch, but live commentary is completely free.

9. TalkSportBet

One of the newcomers on the block, certainly in terms of bookmakers, if not brand name. TalkSportBet are certainly making waves in the industry, and because of their relatively infancy there are pros and cons. When it comes to competitive odds, market depth and event coverage they are as good as anybody out there, but their live streaming offering, bet boosts and stats could definitely be improved, and is what ultimately keeps it towards the bottom of this list. That said, theirs is one of the betting greyhound betting apps.

10. Star Sports

Star Sports rounds off our list of the best greyhound betting sites. There are frequent promotions (including £50 cashback), a huge range of betting markets and their live streaming is better than most. It appears that Star Sports have decided to focus on specific things and do them well. For example, there’s no rest of the world racing offered in their event coverage, but their UK offering is exceptional, and there are few, if any, other bookies that rival them for ante post greyhound betting. Star Sports were a little slow on getting their betting app up and running, but now it’s arrived, it’s a welcome addition.

Also consider...

While it doesn't make the Top 10 list here, we have to mention AK BETS. Factoring in different aspects of a betting product (promotions, each way terms etc.) means that they don't make it, but we have to mention their odds. AK BETS regularly has the best greyhound betting odds in the industry (aside from exchange betting). If getting the single best price is is sole interest, then it's worth heading there first.

Best Greyhound Betting Sites for Odds

Most of the well-known bookmakers will offer ante-post odds on the big greyhound events but only a few are prepared to price up the BAGS and BEGS races in advance.

Usually, bet365 is the best for early odds and can be relied upon to put up early prices in advance of the meetings – early prices and good ante-post coverage put bet365 out in front. So value seekers can usually get a feel for the daily markets with those bookmakers.

The Betfair Exchange can also provide excellent value for the greyhound punter, although often the liquidity on any greyhound race is often small until very near the advertised off time of each race. Frequently though, the discerning punter will be able to beat the SP returned for most dogs in each race, albeit to relatively small stakes.

The best bookmakers for ante post betting are:

  • Paddy Power
  • BetFred
  • BoyleSports
  • Unibet
  • QuinnBet
  • BetGoodwin
  • Star Sports
  • FAFABet
  • bet365

Best Greyhound Betting Sites for Markets

As well as the traditional win bet on greyhounds, most bookmakers will accept forecast and tricast bets which both offer a chance for a much bigger win by correctly predicting the greyhounds that will finish first and second (forecast) or first, second and third (tricast).

Trap Challenge Betting

Another popular greyhound bet is the Trap Challenge. Certain bookmakers will consider a whole card at a particular track and offer prices on each trap number to have the most number of winners at that venue.

bet365 currently appear to offer the widest range of daily Trap Challenges and they also offer a great range of other Greyhound Special Markets including Winning Distances and Combination Trap Challenges.

Greyhounds Betting - Favourites Index

The Favourites Index is a popular alternative to straight win betting where the winner of each race is awarded 25 points, the second-placed dog is given ten points and the dog in third is given five points. The bookmaker will then quote a price for different ranges of total points that all the favourites on the card will achieve. So, with the scoring system outlined above, if two favourites won, one finished second and one finished third the total achieved would be 65 points. The bookies will quote prices over a range of potential point totals such as this:

  • Under 90 points 7/4
  • Between 90 and 115 points 15/8
  • Over 115 points 13/8

With this market you are betting on your judgement as to how you believe the favourite in each race is going to perform over every race on the card. This is an excellent alternative if you want to be involved at every race at one meeting without the need to invest in every race.

Greyhounds Match Betting

Match Betting is where two greyhounds in the same race are priced up on the basis of which will finish in front of the other. So, with this bet your dog doesn’t even have to win! If your selection finishes third and his opponent finishes fourth, fifth or sixth then you win and vice versa.

Best Greyhound Betting Sites for Promotions

Promotions are key for bettors, and it's no different when it comes to greyhound betting sites.

Firstly, when you sign up to a bookmaker for the first time you should absolutely be taking advantage of welcome offer or sign-up bonus. Most, if not all, bookmakers should have something along these lines so not grabbing one when you do sign-up is a big miss. Then, once you're signed up, you want a bookmaker that rewards your loyalty. There should be regular offers, especially for a sport like greyhound racing that has multiple races every day.

Think regular bet boosts, Best Odds Guaranteed, offering extra places and even acca insurance. We've checked which greyhound betting sites offer these, and to what extent. These are the best:
