- I looked at trainers not from the top echelons of the training ranks who have a decent win and more importantly each way strike rate over 3 and 5 years in Cheltenham Handicaps. These stats were for Cheltenham Handicap races in general, not just at the Festival. The following trainers were chosen for this reason. These selected trainers I felt targeted their smaller strings at getting winners at Cheltenham.Obviously the big guns have more runners, but for this Cheltenham Tipsexercise I have ignored those trainers, and only looked at “smaller trainers” Because they are handicaps the Cheltenham Betting prices are decent, and you may wish to consider small stakes on these runners to place at the Festival. I will be backing them all to get a place with the bookmakers and on the Betfair exchange. There should also be plenty of bookmaker offers and concessions such as 5/6 places in the handicaps making it easier for one or more of the runners to sneak into a place. There will also be bookmaker free betsto take advantage of.Some horses will miss out at the 48-hour Cheltenham Declaration stage, so we should be left with a hardcore of runners. I am not hopeful of winners but these horses to run well and possibly place.
