Crystal Palace FC logo Hi everyone, welcome to my Palace blog. For those reading for the first time I try to be as grounded as possible in my views and keep them as impartial as impossible allowing me to give fair and honest views and tips for the football.

Many of my stats are based on my research, whilst not wishing to ignore gut feel the stats generally don't lie.

First of all an appology, between the Arsenal and Man City games I have thrown away 9pts! In the Arsenal game I backed CPFC to get something from the game, for the City game I expected a mauling, neither of which occurred, for the latter I was absolutely astounded.

My fellow OLBG blogger and Saints Fan Dan, has given us the look from the other side of the fence here

So what do you need to know?

Here is the last 6 games Palace have played and their points total :

  • Bournemouth (home) Draw 2-2

  • Watford (home) Win 2-1

  • Leicester (away) Win 0-3

  • Swansea (away) Draw 1-1

  • Arsenal (home)Lost 2-3

  • Man City (home) Draw 0-0

  • Total 9 pts

Its going to be tough for Palace, who on each occasion in the last two games (against Man City) and Southampton this time round have had one less day’s recovery, and whilst the lads did themselves proud on NYE, we are so thin on the ground I can see us running out of gas late on.

    The stats

    • Southampton have more points against Palace in the PL than any other side (7 wins from 9)

    • Palace never won at St Mary’s in the PL (W7/D1/L0)

    • Southampton no win in 6 (but that does include games against AFC, MUFC, CFC and THFC).

    • Over 2.5g landed in 4 of 6 meetings (all comps).

    • BTTS landed in 3 of 6 meeting (all comps).

    • CPFC 1 defeat in 10 games (v AFC).

    • Benteke has 3 goals in 3 games v Soton ( has a good record for Villa and Liverpool against Soton too).

    Last Week's Results:

Crystal Palace v Man City (0-0)

That match was pretty much Palace in a nutshell, first up a game that we should have been battered, we kept a clean sheet, then to get a last minute penalty to end an undefeated run which was to be taken by a player who hasn’t missed a penalty for the club only to miss it.

What should have felt like a great point and being the first team to stop City scoring this season feels like two thrown away right now.

    Man Utd v Southampton (0-0)

I didn’t see the game. I have to admit, and from everything I read Southampton were not outclassed in any great way, and fully deserved the point they picked up.

    Key Player

    Christian Benteke

Most people would expect me to put Wilf up as a key player and yes his performance will be important as always but Townsend is also turning up in recent weeks. Benteke has a great record against Southampton he has 3 goals in the Red & Blue of Palace (plus goals for Villa and Liverpool in his time). We are light in defenders this weekend with Sakho, Dann and Ward all out and he’ll have to put a shift in to defend from the front for us.

    Advised Bets

Match Result : Draw 13/5 with Betfair

    BTTS Yes 10/11 with SunBets

    Benteke ATGS 13/5 with Betfair

Keeping it very simple this week, after a couple of poor weeks. Benteke bet has been well covered in the blog itself, but I see tired legs on Tuesday night, so perhaps some late lapses in the defence so BTTS looks a decent chance.

Good luck if you follow .
