After a rollercoaster August we sit at around +£138 LSP for the year which is fantastic. Last September was a great month with a +£72 LSP and 8 of our 10 highlighted trainers ending the month in profit. All those 8 trainers are back and a few new additions. Hopefully we can have a month to rival last September.

FLAT TURF (GB)

JOHN GOSDEN (ALL) We start with a blog regular. A returnee from last month and last September where he gave us some nice profits.

2010 18/81 22% +£12.77

2011 14/74 19% (£ 1.48)

2012 13/59 22% +£ 6.94

2013 7/49 14% (£ 1.05)

2014 15/60 25% +£40.17

2015 20/52 38% +£17.83

A trainer that really fires in the winners in late summer and early Autumn. Our own figures gave us nearly £25 LSP with the use of BOG.

SIR MARK PRESCOTT (3YO'S) Was a little disappointing last month but usually hits the mark with his 3yo's this month.

2011 1/8 13% +£ 2.00

2012 4/16 25% (£ 0.25)

2013 2/8 25% +£ 0.38

2014 8/19 42% +£10.96

2015 3/5 60% +£ 4.50

Awesome strike rate in the last 2 years.

GEORGE BAKER (3YO+) Was in the blog last year with all his horses but he hasn't had a 2yo winner for the last two years in September and only two 2yo winners from 28 runners in the last 4 years.

2012 0/11 0% (£11.00)

2013 5/21 24% +£14.75

2014 5/27 19% +£ 6.00

2015 6/24 25% +£27.50

Has given us multiple double figure priced winners over the last two years so don't let the price put you off his horses.

JAMES FANSHAWE (3YO+) Top trainer who is going through a but of a quiet spell, September and October seem to be his most profitable months on the turf with his older horses.

2011 4/19 21% +£105.25

2012 2/18 11% (£ 2.50)

2013 3/13 23% +£ 9.50

2014 3/19 16% +£ 5.00

2015 8/23 35% +£11.75

Fantastic stuff again last season and signs are he's running into form with his last 11 runners reading 12225134312. Remember ignore his 2yo's, he's 1/13 over the last 4 years.

CLIVE COX (2yo's) On the nearly list last year but makes it into the blog this time around.

2012 1/15 7% (£11.25)

2013 3/11 27% +£20.00

2014 5/16 31% +£10.13

2015 2/15 13% +£ 9.50

Not the best strike rate last year but can't argue with the previous two years figures.

ROGER VARIAN (3YO+) Another blog favourite, has been struggling with a virus but with Postponed and Certificate winning big races recently this suggests things are getting back to normal, if they are this could be a big month.

2012 7/36 19% +£ 5.83

2013 10/28 36% +£16.75

2014 5/25 20% (£ 2.61)

2015 10/36 28% +£40.13

11/87 With his 2yo's over the same period and (£48.33) so just his non juveniles.

FLAT AW (GB)

We didn't have any AW trainers last September but we have 4 this time around.

SIR MARK PRESCOTT (3YO'S) Just as with his turf runners Prescott does really well in September with his non juveniles.

2012 4/10 40% +£ 4.75

2013 2/4 50% +£ 2.94

2014 4/9 44% +£12.50

2015 3/9 33% +£ 6.41

Phenomenal strike rate, not much more to be said, easy to follow with us doing the same criteria for both Turf and AW.

SAEED BIN SUROOR (ALL)Frankie Detorri & Saeed bin Suroor Another blog regular and another Newmarket trainer who has struggled with a virus. Just starting to have runners again so hopefully he will be making up for lost time.

2012 4/22 18% (£11.34)

2013 3/19 16% +£18.50

2014 8/22 36% +£20.35

2015 7/17 41% +£ 5.54

Increased strike rate over the period, we just need to hope the virus has fully cleared.

DAVID SIMCOCK (ALL) Again a trainer that frequently appears and rarely disappoints.

2012 2/14 14% +£ 6.00

2013 3/13 23% +£ 8.30

2014 0/17 0% (£17.00)

2015 5/16 31% +£15.13

Obviously we want no repeat of 2014 but any of the others would suffice.

AMANDA PERRETT (ALL) Seems like a while since she's appeared on the blog but warrants inclusion this month.

2012 3/18 17% +£25.00

2013 3/15 20% (£ 1.88)

2014 3/8 38% +£ 3.00

2015 4/17 24% +£10.50

Not the strongest figures ever posted but solid enough and little risk involved.

NH (GB)

CHARLIE LONGSDON (ALL) Returnee from the last 2 years where he gave us +£17.50 and +£8.09 respectively.

2010 1/1 100% +£16.00

2011 8/22 36% +£19.78

2012 2/13 15% (£ 6.77)

2013 5/16 31% +£ 4.17

2014 7/11 64% +£13.75

2015 5/12 42% +£ 4.75

Two winners from his last five runners suggest he's hitting form.

GORDON ELLIOTT (ALL)Gordon Elliott Trainer Anyone who follows the blog knows Elliott's figures can usually be relied upon, has given us profit in September in each of the last three years.

2010 5/14 36% +£ 0.90

2011 4/15 27% (£ 7.84)

2012 4/7 57% +£ 8.93

2013 3/9 33% +£ 7.00

2014 6/15 40% +£ 9.17

2015 7/22 32% +£ 0.33

Fantastic strike rate but unfortunately the bookies are getting used to his raids and are giving little in terms of value, our own figures were slightly better than the SP ones above though so still happy to include.

DR RICHARD NEWLAND (ALL) No stranger to the blog, gave us a small profit again last year.

2011 1/7 14% (£ 3.25)

2012 3/8 38% +£ 4.63

2013 4/10 40% +£ 4.92

2014 4/11 36% +£ 5.76

2015 2/8 25% (£ 0.63)

Another decent set of figures, take note of his Sunday runners in particular.

NIGEL TWISTON-DAVIES (ALL)Jockeys, P. Brennan The last of our returnees from last September, usually start the NH season well.

2010 12/42 29% +£ 1.71

2011 4/16 25% +£ 3.00

2012 3/12 25% +£ 5.50

2013 8/26 31% +£ 4.51

2014 4/23 17% +£ 6.19

2015 3/22 14% +£ 1.33

Our own figures showed a slightly better LSP of £4.75 last year and recent form figures of 12421113 suggest his string may be coming to hand a little earlier this year.

DAVID PIPE (ALL) Probably the risky one this month if there is one.

2012 3/23 13% (£ 0.83)

2013 1/16 6% +£ 1.00

2014 9/27 33% +£ 0.76

2015 9/34 26% +£ 5.66

Anyone who follows the blog knows how much I like the progressive stats and put more significance into the more recent figures also with 9 winners in each of the last two years a bit of BOG scope.

IAN WILLIAMS (ALL) Not been in the blog for a while, I think the last time he appeared it was with his AW runners.

2012 1/6 17% +£ 2.50

2013 1/6 17% +£11.00

2014 3/11 27% (£ 1.25)

2015 2/8 25% +£ 2.50

Solid enough stuff and little risk involved with so few runners.

ROSE DOBBIN (CHASERS) This could be the first blog virgin of the month, she won't keep us too busy but should add a little.

2012 0/0 0% ----

2013 1/2 50% +£ 5.50

2014 2/5 40% +£ 1.75

2015 2/5 40% +£ 3.40

Not many runners but her chasers really need to be noted this month.

CHRIS GORDON (ALL) Hampshire trainer who I think had appeared some time in the distant past.

2012 3/10 30% +£20.00

2013 2/10 20% +£10.50

2014 0/3 0% ( £ 3.00)

2015 2/6 33% +£ 4.75

Again solid enough stuff with little risk.

IRISH FLAT

G M LYONS (2&3yo's) Our only trainer from over the water and one of our favourites, poor form with his 4yo+ horses so just his 2 and 3yo's.

2012 5/39 13% +£ 12.50

2013 3/24 13% (£ 3.00)

2014 4/26 15% +£10.33

2015 6/35 17% +£32.28

I would like a slightly better strike rate but we've had success with these type of figures in recent months. Usually comes up against O'Brien, Weld and Bolger so normally value to be had from his runners.

A few less trainers than last month and probably half the runners of last month which lessons the workload for me. Hopefully we can get the annual LSP up towards the £200 mark.

If you enjoy this type of stat based analysis I recommend you read fellow blogger Robmull, his trends blog looks at things from a different perspective but also provides plenty of overlaps between the two blogs that could provide some valuable selections.
