 By Epic in Ice Hockey

18 February 2017 12:43

A year ago, one of the conditions for the NHL players to agree to continue with the new 3 on 3 All-Star Game format was the introduction of bye weeks. In terms of predicting winners, there aren't many tougher leagues than the NHL to do it in. With the salary cap and draft system, the league attempts to create parity amongst all 30 teams, making it as difficult as possible to turn a profit. Of course, bad management means that we have teams who experience lengthy playoff droughts whilst good management means that there are teams who experience plenty of success.... more

 By Epic in Ice Hockey

10 November 2016 18:15

The new NHL season is less than a month old, but there have already been some interesting developments regarding the eventual Stanley Cup champion. The Edmonton Oilers have made a wonderful start and many bookies rate them as the 2nd favorite to with the Cup next June. Does The Best Regular Season Guarantee Stanley Cup Success?

 By undertherobe in Ice Hockey

13 April 2016 19:21

Last year, I wrote a short blog about the curse of winning the President’s Trophy in the NHL and it rang true as the New York Rangers became the latest team to fail to lift the Stanley Cup after posting the best regular season record. The President’s Trophy is awarded to the team with the best regular season record and has been handed out since the 1985-86 season.... more
