Emerald Army is in stall 9, and he has shown good ability over this trip with a win and a solid place record. Wearing a visor for the first time, he ran to form last time, finishing just over 3 lengths behind at Leicester over 7. Trainer David Carroll is in good form, and Zak Wheatley is onboard today. He runs off a mark of 58, which looks very fair given his consistent performances. With a history of winning at this class and distance, and showing promise on similar going, he looks like a strong player dropping back in trip. If he can handle the wide draw and race closer to the pace, he has every chance to be involved in the finish.

This is undoubtedly a little stronger race than the one Stormy Pearl won at Hamilton last Saturday, but she is in such good heart, she could go in again. This is her time of the year, and she's won over the course and distance before. That win was quite spectacular as she fired out of the stalls and was away and gone before the rest knew what had happened. I would think similar tactics might be employed again.

Baby Rover has shown improved form to win over course and distance and then finish a close 2nd of 16 at Ayr on similar going. Up to a mark of only 51, she should go close again.

No show in their 3 runs this season, but did win in this class over today's C/D on final start of last season and is 2lb lower here. Pieces on first time today, good pilot up in this apprentice race and very shrewd trainer excells in the sprinting sphere, making current 5/1 very strong Ew value in the race.

Not much to go on course-wise as it's never run here. But in its last run at Pontefract, it came out of stall 4 but somehow ended up on the outside before some late work, showing this trip will suit. It's dropped to its last winning mark. Interesting.
