Berkshire Phantom has not been great since winning at Chester last year. However, he has not got into gear this year but did show a big improvement last time out when stepping up to 1m2f and finishing third after getting held up. It is worth another chance off the same mark of getting a clear run.

Landed a 13-runner handicap at Wolverhampton 27 days ago at 9/1, clinging on after racing keenly. Feels like it merits a close look now switching back to turf.

Not many in here with any kind of form. Should run into a place and is pretty consistent for the grade. Good chance.

Although he hasn’t hit the board in four subsequent attempts??'finishing fifth twice on all-weather and three starts on turf??'those runs were in higher-grade company, and he’s steadily picking up valuable experience. Now rated just 45, he’s well treated and drops back into Class 6 company where he looks to hold a fitness edge.

Always Fearless won at Windsor at this time of year in 2024 off a seven-pound higher mark with the same rider. He could go close at Redcar if he does not blow the start.

ON THE BUBBLE ran well on stable debut at Musselburgh and has a place chance if matching that run here. Has taken a step forward the last two runs (mid-division finishes as opposed to poor runs) so if another stride in the right direction is taken here, then we could have a live one from a big price.

I hate to say it but this is bottom drawer stuff and there could be some value to be had with Hashtagnotions. My selection has won twice from 11 starts both at Newcastle on the all weather over 8f off marks of 49 & 51. Warren Fentiman takes off a handy 3lb which means he gets in on a career low of 48. Hasn't yet been seen to the same effect on turf, but off a very competitive mark he could fill one of the 4 places on offer.
