Has won over this course and not without a chance here, especially if the expected rain arrives. Has run with promise this season and looks on a good handicap mark.

Imperial Data was in contention two out over CD, good to soft last time, until a poor jump saw him lose all momentum and his chance had gone. His four runs prior to that have been mostly in better races than today, and he was not beaten far in any of them. Ground suits with the rain, and he goes well at this venue (a win and a 3rd from 3 attempts). Tongue tie is added to cheekpieces, and McLernon gets another go in the saddle.

Won last time out on debut for new trainer. Steps up in trip today, but that won't be a problem as has won further in the past. Each way chance in open race.

Has been placed around here a few times and has now fallen to his lowest mark since winning off 106 14 months ago. Comes here off 107 and has won off 113 and placed off even higher marks. Decent each-way bet.

Chase debut? WBEE is a course winner, which bodes well, but the distance may be short enough unless they try different tactics on this quirky track. Good odds to play each way.

Track regular, down in grade for this. Goes on soft and heavy going. Yard in very good form. 10lb claimer goes well for the yard. Low weight to carry.

Preference here goes to the James Moffatt runner, Sea The Clouds. Arrives here with quite an appealing profile over these conditions. It's not out of the realms of possibility that he's flying below the radar here at a big old price. Previous C&D winner when winning this last year for another stable. That was off a 6lb lower mark, so he arrives back with another big run required. He was pulled up on his most recent start and that may be factored into the price. This looks a very competitive heat with only 4lb separating the field on RPR's. Top apprentice booked with Alan Doyle taking 5lb off his back. Front runner that may stay the course if physically well.

Lucinda Russell doesn't send many to Cartmel, so the hint possibly should be taken with Starlyte. Any further rain would certainly aid the chances of the selection, as he has been seen to best effect on easy ground in the past. He's a strong galloper, and I think he'll be ridden prominently to test the others.
