4:15 Curragh Tips

Aidan Howard's Magical Vision won over today's C&D last season, and made an encouraging seasonal debut when seventh here in March, just looking as though the run was needed. She's lightly raced for her age and the forecast rain will be very welcome.

Cuban Grey arrives looking well-treated in this handicap. He won over this course and distance back in April, quickening smartly under Rory Mulligan when fitted with cheekpieces. Trainer P J McKenna has produced him in good form, and the return of the tongue tie indicates deliberate targeting for an improved run and focus. With Mulligan retaining the ride and plenty of pace expected to string the field out, Cuban Grey should be in the mix late on.

Rappell has been running very well this season while handicap mark has dropped back down. Ran solid second off OR70 in first time blinkers in good 13K handicap here over six furlongs last time. Two pounds higher here but this 4yo (3 wins from 16 runs) looks likely to be back in the winner's enclosure soon. Nicely drawn in stall 16 and Dylan Browne McMonagle a good jockey booking for trainer Paul Flynn.

Conditions look ideal for this one, and she's going to be hard to keep out of the frame. She has an each-way bet to nothing look about it. The trainer's runners are going well lately, and he has three in the race. Jockey bookings would suggest this is his number one chance. The jockey has only been booked on the horse once before and finished a good 2nd. The horse has also won a 20-runner handicap this year, so is at home in these big fields too.

A typically open-looking Curragh sprint handicap in which the current form of Billie Be Quick stands out. He won at Down Royal last September, and after a couple of unplaced runs, he has recently moved up a level. Second, beaten a neck at Down Royal in May, she returned there to win off a mark of 70 last month. She was then runner-up off 6lbs higher at Bellewstown earlier this month. She is 1lb higher here but has a first-time visor and looks a good EW bet with 5 places on offer.

A very open sprint where Fast Fair is taken to make most of the running at a big looking 14/1. Forget his last run where he raced alone, and he won well the time before at Navan off a higher mark. The drying ground will help.

Has shown plenty of promise in all 3 starts to date, placing on all 3 occasions. Remains open to further improvement and holds at least an each-way chance.

Yet to win on turf but slowly coming into form. Off a good mark here and gets a good draw. Ground will be ideal and can run a big race today.

Last season, he showed promising form in 6f nurseries, though he wasn't as impactful at the minimum distance. Still, he achieved a respectable 3rd in a handicap at Bellewstown 17 days ago. I expect a similar performance, but the jockey's 3lb claim might bring a surprise. Still, an each-way bet at 25/1 appears the best option.

This horse's recent performances against higher-rated opposition than today are better than the bare form suggests. Subsequent winners in higher-grade races have come out of those races, so if anything, this looks like a drop in grade today. The jockey booking looks significant, and if this horse handles today's conditions, it could spring a surprise.

Mymomentintime is a 6-year-old horse owned and trained by Miss Susan A Finn and ridden by Killian Leonard. His only win came at the Curragh over CD on yielding to heavy ground, trouncing his rivals by 3.5 lengths, winning very easily off a mark of 56, drawn in stall 7. (The winner of this race last year, Mary Shoelaces, was in stall 2). Mymomentintime has since run five times at the Curragh over CD since and has been sent off at 11-8f, 4-1jf, 11-4f, 7-1, and 6-1 without joy. He sits just 1lb above that win and returns after an absence of a 276-day break, which probably explains why he is 28-1. But taking a positive spin on things, he may have been kept back, and this race has been his long-term target and being owned by the trainer she will have surely invested a lot of time and energy in his preparation. He posted a career-high RPR of 80 in that CD win and runs off a measly 57, so he can contend if trained with this race in mind and is seemingly well drawn in stall 1. Could lightning strike twice?

Verified is a 15-race maiden, who has been runner-up twice, including on the penultimate start, over this trip on similar ground. Reunited with the 7lb claimer who was on board when runner-up last time. Majority of best form has been over this trip, with cut in the ground and off his light weight, could have a good each-way shout.

Soldiers Call gelding who won and was placed twice in six starts last year. He is versatile on the ground, and the drop back in trip should suit this 3-year-old. He arrives fit with a 7lb claimer on top. The stable has a 15% SR at this course over the past year, and if this horse is ready to roll, then he looks to be a decent each-way wager with 5 places on offer.

Took a step forward on his final start before a long layoff. Needs to show more and is drawn wide, but could progress further now handicapping. Each-way potential if building on that last run.
