Huddersfield v West Ham Intro

Huddersfield in their first season in the EPL have held their own. They now need a strong second half of the season to secure their EPL status.

The Terriers are currently in 11th place with a record of W6 D6 L10. Its interesting to note that at the time of writing the three promoted teams are in 11th, 12th and 13th place in the Premier League.

West Ham battled to an away point against Tottenham in their last EPL game. That draw moved the Hammers above Bournemouth into 15th place.

Under David Moyes there has been improvement from what seemed a more lackadaisical Slaven Bilic. 13 points from his 11 games in charge have included a win against Chelsea and a draw against Arsenal.

Huddersfield v West Ham Key Match Questions

Will home advantage be the deciding factor?

Can the Terriers offer more going forward?

Will West Ham play on the break?

Are both teams frightened to lose?

West Ham v Huddersfield Match Preview

Huddersfield have only lost three times at home, those losses were against Tottenham, Chelsea and Man City. In matches against mid to bottom of the table teams they have performed well at the John Smiths Stadium, where their record reads W4 D4 L3.

West Ham have won 14 of their 22 points at the London Stadium, away from their they only have the solitary win against a disappointing Stoke side. They have however picked up 5 draws, two of which came over the Christmas period.

Going by the form of the sides it looks to football tipsters that Huddersfield will win or draw, West Ham’s best chance looks to be the draw.

The difference in bookmaker prices on the game are minimal with the home side at 17/10 (2.7), the draw is 11/5 (3.2), with West Ham at 21/10 (3.1).

David Wagner’s team have not won at home since a 2-0 victory over another promoted side, Brighton on the 9th of December and will want to get back to winning ways. Their home form will be crucial in winning enough points to keep clear of the relegation dog fight.

West Ham have dug in with rear-guard performances in many of their games, and have scored in their last 4 away, they may well need to do the same in this game, in front of a vociferous home crowd. They do have quality in Arnutaovic and Lanzini, and if Andy Carrol is fit have the best aerial goal threat in the EPL.

The teams on form and stats look well matched, a bet on the draw at 11/5 could pay dividends, with 1-1 available in the correct score market at 11/2.

Huddersfield v West Ham Injury News

Quaner who has been impresssive will be missing after suffering a hamstring injury, Kachunga will be out for at least another month.

The Hammers have the worst injury list in the EPL, Collins, Fonte, Reid and Sakho are all injured. Arnuatovic, Byram and  Cresswell are 50/50.
