Eastleigh v Walsall Tips

Interesting FA Cup first-round match with a Conference side hosting the current leaders from EFL League Two, Walsall. Yesterday, L2 Notts County lost their first-round tie away to another Conference side in a penalty shootout. This might be just as tight, but I will go with a very scrappy, tight away win.

After watching the Notts County away FA Cup first-round match last night, I am expecting a difficult match for us today as we are on a poor run of form. So, taking a chance on a draw and hopefully winning after extra time or pens.

Walsall are top of League Two but have lost their last two matches. Those two defeats were against teams in the lower half of the table. Eastleigh have nothing to lose and so should put up a good competitive performance. Their last four home games have produced two wins and two draws. This could well be a banana skin tie for Walsall, who may come into this game lacking confidence following those two defeats.

Eastleigh have seen both sides hit the net in their last three home games, and the National League side face a tough assignment at home to League 2 table toppers Walsall. The hosts are usually good for a goal at home but may find today's opposition too tough, and the visitors should at least get a couple here.

Walsall might be top of League 2, but they have conceded in seven of their nine away games in all competitions this season, and six straight Eastleigh home games have seen both teams score.

Eastleigh have scored at least a goal in every home game this season. The 12th placed National League side face a tough assignment at home to the League 2 table toppers. Walsall, whilst top, do concede more than they would like and after 14 games are F19 A13. The hosts are usually good for at least a goal at home and can get one today. However, they are likely to find today's opposition too tough and end up being outscored.
