The UEFA Nations League is a new competition that aims to provide competitive international matches as opposed to meaningless friendlies.

The format matches equally ranked national teams to hold the competition annually.

The teams are split into four leagues, A–B–C–D, according to their position in the UEFA National Team Coefficient Rankings. The groups consist of 3 or 4 teams.
