Browns Odds Drop In Next Newcastle Manager Betting Market
Tuesday 30 September 2008 at 10:05
Hull's shock victory over Arsenal at the weekend has seen William Hill drop the odds of boss Phil Brown becoming the Next Newcastle Manager.
According to the bookie's spokesman, Graham Sharpe, Brown is now rated at 16/1, having been offered at 25/1 before the Tigers' 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium.
In addition, the odds of the 49-year-old becoming the next England manager have come in to 20/1, while the same price is offered for him to named Premiership Manager of the Year.
"Obviously the win over Arsenal has raised Brown's profile considerably and that, together with the rush of small money bets we have taken for him in each of these markets, has seen us cut his odds," said Sharpe.
Kevin Keegan is still favourite to return to the job, with Betfair offering him at 33/19, although punters can get odds of 5/4 with William Hill.
Joe Kinnear is rated at 6/1 by William Hill to stay on after becoming temporary manager, while Gus Poyet and Alan Shearer are offered at 8/1, despite the latter telling Match of the Day that he has no interest in being the Next Newcastle Manager.
